DSRS Transportation 4 specialized vehicles has been produced under the US technical assistance 9

Storage of disused SRS in welltype storages Storage with the capacity of 20 kg-eqv. Rahas been build and operated since 1990. It is equipped with trip, radiation protection systems and alarm system. Containsseveral thousands of sources with total activity approximately 0,3 kg-eqv.ra. Main nuclide- Cs-137. 10

Transport packaging set ПКТІВ- 120Н Transport packaging set is intended for safe transportation and temporary storage of disused closed SRS with isotope 137Cs 60Co. Capacity of loading can of shielding container enables to place up to 1000 retrieved sources. 11

Module mobile protective cell for unloading of theblocks SRS, place at the sites of Ukrainian State Corporation Radon Assigned for safe extraction of sealed (enclosed) SRS from the blocks sources of type Э-1/Э-3, Э-1М/Э-4М, БГИ -30, БГИ-45, БГИ-60А, БГИ-75А, БГИ-90А, БГИ-45У, БГИ-60У, БГИ-75У, БГИ-90У and their transshipment into container from the Transport packaging set ПКТІВ-120Н. 12

Centralized disused SRS Storage The Storage is being built with the financial support of the Department of Energy and Climate Changes of the United Kingdom and European Commission Construction Start March 2011 End of construction December 2014 15

General characteristics of Centralized Storage for DSRS Expected amount of DSRS is approximately 500 000 spc. Main works on storage loading are oriented for the period up to 15 years with average production from 6 to 120 sources per day. Into the storage are placed: RAW in the form of DSRS in transport packaging sets (ПКТIВ- 120Н, ПКТ I В-180Н, ПКТ I В-230Н, ПКТ I В-260-12, ПКТ II В- 420 type or in other certified containers) DSRS in SRS blocks (type БГИ andэ) packages with alpha-sources in containers-collectors КС-004А radioisotope thermoelectric generator ( Betta-M type RTG)

Primary technologies According to transport-process scheme of the storage there are envisaged five flows : 1 Flow RTG 2 Flow blocks of sources BGR type 3 Flow neutron sources 4 Flow γ (Со-60, Cs-137 etc.), β(sr -90/Y-90 etc.), α+γ (Ra-226, Am-241)-sorces 5 Flow α -sources(pu-238, 239)

Automated system of management of radioactive waste transportation 20

Public campaign on collection of orphaned SRS from the population Puprose: to create a mechanisms of delivery by individuals and entities of radioactive materials without charging and without penalties to interest population in SRS delivery to special combines to raise awareness of potential SRS hazard on human health and environment to explain that illegal trade of radioactive materials would not bring substantial gains First stage: Introduction of amendments in the Criminal Code of Ukraine concerning voluntary delivery of radioactive materials Second stage: pilot campaign in one of region 21
