1. Introduction FIDIC Young Professionals Forum Steering Committee (YPFSC) and FIDIC Risk and Quality Committee (R&Q) have prepared a survey for the purpose of understanding the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Engineering Industry. This purpose of this report is to summarize the outcomes of this survey. 2. Methodology Short survey was prepared based multiple choices and open ended questions. The survey was published online through (Survey Monkey website) and was shared via FIDIC social media pages (Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) worldwide. 3. Timing Survey was published on 8 th of August 2017 till 20 th of September 2017, this means one month period. 4. Surveys Questions and Outcomes: The below subsections summarize the survey s 12 questions. Each question was provided with a color code that also used in the related responses analysis: 1

Respondent s age distribution is as below: 60.00% 50.00% 40.00% 30.00% 20.00% 10.00% 0.00% 20 to less than 30 30 to less than 40 40 to less than 50 50 to less than 60 60 and more The majority of the population is young professionals (YPs) less than 40 years old (about 75%), this may be due to the below reasons: The survey was distributed via social media pages, the majority of the users are YPs BIM users are mainly YPs. 4.3 Where are you working? The majority is working in engineering consultancy sector with about 70% then followed by 17% from Construction sector. 4.4 Please advise about your engineering speciality? Respondants experince in using BIM are as below: 4
