FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Connectivity with flexibility For more product information visit connectrac.com, call us at 877-480 - 5637 or email us at info@connectrac.com ADA COMPLIANT - U.L. TESTED AND LISTED 2011 STRONG PRODUCTS GROUP, LTD. Connectrac systems are protected by US Patent Nos. 6,844,493 and 6,566,598; others pending.

GENERAL QUESTIONS: Q: Are Connectrac systems designed for new construction or remodeling? A: Both! Connectrac systems are designed to be used in new construction, renovations, or modular furniture reconfigurations. Q: What types of flooring work with Connectrac? A: Connectrac is designed to work primarily with broad loom carpet or carpet tiles. In certain cases, other types of flooring may be used as well. Q: Does Connectrac comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act? A: Yes, the slope of our Connectrac wireway systems is less than 1:12, as required by the ADA. Of course, in all installations the outlet box or modular furniture power whip connection box must be located beneath the work surface- not in the walking path. Q: Are Connectrac systems UL and CSA certified? A: Yes, Connectrac system components are both UL and CSA certified. Q: What sort of flexibility in lengths does Connectrac offer? A: Connectrac systems come in 8 foot and 4 foot lengths. They can be field-cut to any length and can be joined together end-to-end also. Q: After it s installed, can I move my Connectrac wireway system? A: Yes, Connectrac systems are designed to be easily moved and changed as your needs change. The aluminum wireway components are simply unscrewed from the floor slab after the power and data cables are disconnected and reinstalled with new MDF ramps in their new location.

INSTALLATION QUESTIONS: Q: Who installs Connectrac systems? A: As with all electrical systems, the Connectrac power conduit must be hard-wired by a licensed electrician. The rest of the components (base track and ramps, etc.) can be installed by flooring contractors, furniture installers or electricians. Typically, flooring contractors complete the installation by gluing the carpet to the wireway ramps, cutting the carpet along the wireway cap and installing the wall base using the template to cut the bottom edge of the base to the same profile as the wireway system. Q: How are Connectrac systems attached to a floor? A: The Connectrac wireway components are anchored to the concrete floor slab with the supplied concrete anchors. The ramped portions of the system are installed with construction adhesive. Q: Can Connectrac be installed with existing carpeting or does the carpet need to be installed after Connectrac is mounted on the floor? A: Yes, our systems can be installed with existing carpet, provided that the carpet and carpet glue are in a condition where a portion of the carpet can be cut and lifted up. Here s the sequence: 1) identify where the Connectrac system will be installed; 2) remove about 4 feet of wall base here; 3) cut the carpet along the length where the wireway will be installed; 4) lift up the carpet here; 5) secure the wireway components to the floor slab; 6) run the cables (power/voice/data) into the stud wall cavity through a small opening made in the bottom of the wall to a junction box or existing outlet; and 7) reinstall the carpet, gluing it to the tops of the Connectrac ramp areas and cutting along the wireway cap. Assuming your carpet can be lifted up, the whole process takes less than 3 hours with an electrician and a carpet installer. Q: What does the system look like at the wall? Is some type of wall transition adapter required? A: There is no special wall transition adapter needed where our Connectrac wireway meets the wall. The wall base (typically rubber, vinyl or carpet) covers the small opening in the lower portion of the wall where the cables enter the stud wall cavity from our wireway. A template is provided with each Connectrac kit to allow the flooring installers to cut the bottom edge of the wall base to the same profile as our wireway system. Q: Can I connect a Connectrac individual receptacle system to an existing power outlet in our conference room? A: Yes you can! Your electrician should verify that there is sufficient capacity in the circuit that serves the outlet first. Then the Connectrac conduit can be fished up the wall and connected to the bottom of the metal outlet box located inside the wall.

TECHNICAL QUESTIONS: Q: What is the height of the Connectrac wireway? Will it go beneath modular furniture panels? A: The height of the installed Connectrac wireway is less than 5/8, well within the adjustability range of virtually all modular furniture systems. Q: What is the gauge of wire used for the electrical components of Connectrac systems? A: The gauge of the wires is as follows: I-Series (1 20 amp circuit): 3 12 gauge conductors; M, U and V-Series (4 20 amp circuits): 7 12 gauge conductors and 1 10 gauge conductors. Q: What is the weight- bearing capacity of Connectrac systems? A: The system was designed and engineered to accommodate a load of 1,000 pounds on a 4-wheel cart. That s about the greatest load we could conceive our system encountering in the typical commercial or institutional interior environment. Q: How many CAT- 5 or CAT-6 cables will the Connectrac wireway accommodate? A: The wireway will accommodate the following number of communication cables: Empty Connectrac system (i.e. no power conduit in track) 25 CAT - 6 cables 30 CAT- 5 cables Connectrac system with power conduit 18 CAT- 6 cables 25 CAT- 5 cables Q: What type of connections (e.g. LAN, phone, computer video) does the I- Series system accommodate? A: Our I-Series system provides 2 power receptacles (NEMA 5-15 standard, NEMA 5-20 optional) and between 2 and 4 voice/data jacks. Because our adapter plate consists of a standard size opening (1.375 x 2.75 ), up to 4 - RJ-45 and/or RJ-11 jacks can be accommodated by using an adaptor plate provided by your voice/data jack manufacturer (e.g. Panduit, Amp, Avaya). For other communications device options refer to Connectrac s optional accessories. Q: Is it okay to place telecommunications cabling alongside the power cables in the Connectrac wireway? A: Yes, according to the Commercial Building Standard for the Telecommunications Industry Association, it is acceptable to locate communications cables along with properly shielded power cables (such as the Connectrac power conduit) in the same channel or wireway. This is the standard means of installing such cables in virtually all modular furniture systems throughout the country. Q: Why is the Connectrac wireway cap exposed? Can it be covered with carpet? A: The cap, which runs the length of the Connectrac system, is designed to be removed for ease of changing/installing communication cables. This wireway cap is available in four finishes and with a cap that accommodates a strip of carpet. Q: How many workstations can be supplied by a single Connectrac modular furniture conduit system? A: Our Connectrac modular furniture conduit systems provide 4 20 amp circuits. The number of workstations which can be served depends on the power requirements at the individual workstations. You should contact your modular furniture dealer for help determining your specific requirements.

PURCHASING QUESTIONS: Q: Where can I purchase Connectrac? A: You can purchase Connectrac systems from your local contract furniture dealer or electrical distributor. If you don t have access to a contract furniture dealer or electrical distributor, please contact us at 877-480-5637. Q: What is the lead time for ordering Connectrac? A: Orders placed by noon Central Time are typically shipped out the next business day. Our standard shipping is UPS Ground, but expedited shipping is available. For Connectrac orders containing Special Order items, lead times are up to 20 business days.
