Workforce-Participation in further training 2

Counselling and qualification project Life and Work - LeA Goal: Target groups: - to develop an employee-oriented, high-quality and concrete guidance service under the title Training Coaching - additional qualification for works and staff councils - employees with simple and mid-level qualifications in small and medium size enterprises Regional focus: -City of Hamburg - South Germany Branches: - metal and electrical branch - maintains and health services 3

Empirical basis of the LeA Project Case Studies Training Coaching tests in enterprises Further Training Training Coach Participants Training coaching experience Metal & electrical branch maintains & health services (18 P) (16 P) 4

Main Results of the LeA Project The main goal for the new concept Training Coaching was to improve the capacity of employees to plan and create their own employment advancements and strengthening employees personal competencies. We can say now, the concept works. Training Coaching is an successful instrument to motivate employees with low and mid-level qualifications and to bring them into the process of lifelong learning. To create an successful in-company training coaching process it is necessary to involve not just the employer and the employees but also the works council and the chairmen. From this point of view training coaching is also an instrument for organizational development. The training coaching experience after the funding period shows, career guidance concepts like training coaching are hardly marketable. They do not work without public funding. SME do not have the financial capacity. And companies usually do not offer career guidance to employees with low and mid-level qualifications. 5
