CONSTRUCTIVE THINKING BLOCKS

Our vision is To be our customers preferred choice for sustainable construction solutions.

Tarmac is the UK s leading sustainable building materials and solutions provider. With over 150 years of experience, our unique combination of people, technology and assets enables us to collaborate with customers to offer unrivalled choice, innovation and flexibility. We are committed to building a zero harm culture that prioritises people s safety, health and well-being, and targets continuous improvement. Tarmac is part of CRH, a global building material group employing over 90,000 people at around 4,000 locations worldwide. A Fortune 500 company, and constituent member of the FTSE 100 index, CRH operates in 37 countries. The group is the largest building material company in North America, a regional leader in Europe and has a growing presence in Asia.

Population growth, longer living age and migration are putting an ever increasing demand on UK housing. In short we need to build more and fast. In fact, government estimates have suggested that there are 221,000 new households set up annually in England alone and if predictions from the Lyon Housing Review are proven correct, then by 2020 we could be short of some two million homes. As the UK s leading blocks supplier, being committed to continually improving our products and working in partnership with our customers across the sector will help us to deliver solutions to meet these housing challenges. With the largest and most comprehensive range of aircrete and aggregate blocks, we strive to deliver practical sustainable housing solutions. With features including large format blocks to deliver faster build times, solid wall construction dispensing the need for cavities and excellent acoustic and thermal performance, we know what it takes to build the perfect home.

With an improving economy and increasing private investment, UK commercial and industrial construction is expected to see strong growth. Modern commercial buildings, whether new build or retrofit, practical and above all sustainable. We know that our customers demand robust, durable and high quality blocks with fast and flexible supply. With a wide selection of load bearing and paint grade blocks developed specifically for the demands of this construction sector, we will help you find the best solution for your project on time and to budget whilst providing the technical knowledge and support you d expect from a trusted construction materials supplier.

Aircrete blocks can help achieve compliance with Part L Thermal Standards as well as reducing heat loss from thermal bridging.

THE COMPLETE RANGE building blocks including lightweight aircrete blocks, as well as medium and dense aggregate blocks. As the UK s market leader, our blocks meet the most demanding of building requirements, designed and tested to work together from the drawing board, through the contractors hands and on through the functional life of the building. With unique combinations of thermal, acoustic and structural performance benefits, we have the block solution to suit every project and with our national coverage we have the flexibility to deliver mixed loads.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT FROM BEGINNING TO END With over 60 years experience of blocks manufacturing, we pride ourselves on our technical knowhow and expertise. Our highly qualified technical teams are always on hand to ensure that customers receive the very best guidance and advice through every step of the build programme. Whether it s assessing U-values, advice on minimising thermal bridging or simply selecting the right block for your project, our technical team are more than happy to help. Our BIM objects for blocks have been specially developed to help add value during both design and construction, providing our customers with the necessary performance data to create sustainable buildings; assisting architects in designing better buildings, engineers to evaluate the performance of a product in situ, and contractors to plan and avoid scheduling clashes.

We are committed to BIM and the benefits that it can bring to our customers and their way of doing business.

SUPPLY ASSURANCE With access to over 100 UK quarries and cement and lime production facilities, Tarmac s blocks are produced from the highest quality raw materials and supplied through an integrated production network. SALES AND OPERATIONS PLANNING By working in partnership with our customers to understand their build programmes, we are able to ensure orders are tracked and delivered on time. Our dedicated sales and service teams ensure that orders are fulfilled as planned whilst providing a single point of contact for orders and enquires. OUTSTANDING QUALITY All of our blocks operational sites have achieved certification to BS EN ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) and BS EN ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and BES 6001 (Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products). In addition our sites have achieved BS OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management). To support continued compliance, Tarmac operate an internal quality system called the Gold Standard. This quality system was introduced in 2012 to meet the continually high standards expected by our customers. All sites are now audited and given a monthly audit score to monitor compliance with the Gold Standard.

A can do attitude is evident throughout the team ensuring consistent levels of customer service, with a fast and flexible response to all customer enquiries. Building customer relationships at all levels through effective communication is at the heart of what we do.

FLEET SAFETY MANAGEMENT Our CORE block fleet is 100% FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) bronze accredited and CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety) compliant, fully embedding a culture of safety to each, and every delivery we make. Committed to developing industry best practice and improving our customers delivery experience, we are continually developing new and innovative ways to optimise our fleet from trialling load security options to vehicle configurations.

HEALTH AND SAFETY Protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, contractors and those around us is a core value of our business and the impetus behind our drive to develop a zero harm culture. We work in potentially hazardous environments so it s important that everyone understands how to go about their jobs safely. Our goal is zero harm to anyone working for, or with Tarmac. Creating a consistent, proactive safety culture through engagement, training and behaviour change, will support us in achieving our goal. We believe that no task is so important that it can t be done safely and through measurement and learning we can continuously improve our performance. Everyone working at Tarmac is expected to work in a safe, responsible manner and to challenge unsafe behaviour.

SUSTAINABILITY Sustainability is a cornerstone of managing the long-term future of our business, and plays a fundamental role in shaping our growth strategy. It also underpins our group vision of being the world s leading building materials company. A core principle and a critical business-enabling pillar for our organisation, sustainability is underpinned by our four sustainability priorities of People, Planet, Performance and Solutions. This framework guides the behaviours and approach across every aspect of our business. From prioritising people s health, safety and wellbeing; to attracting, retaining and developing talented people.
