Eligibility: A. Be a currently enrolled, undergraduate student who will be returning to college as a fulltime (12 credit hours) sophomore, junior or senior in the fall of 2018. B. Submit written enrollment verification from their college or university confirming the student s enrollment status to United Way of Northwest Arkansas. C. Knowledge, experience, or a desire to gain experience in marketing, public relations, communications, community cultivation and partnership building. D. Demonstrated customer service skills E. Valid driver s license and safe driving record F. The ability to speak/write in Spanish G. Subscribes to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement H. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines. I. Strong human relations skills and have ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds J. Ability to exercise good judgement K. Excellent written and oral communication skills L. This is a full time (35 hours per week) position b. This positions is not eligible for sick, vacation, and holiday leave during employment c. Regional travel required 50%. Rental cars and mileage reimbursement are offered. Must be able to lift 20lbs and stand for at least 30 mins d. Work requires normal physical effort for primarily an office environment; some physical effort in handling of materials or boxes and tools or equipment of up to 25 pounds in non-strenuous work. Some periods of continual standing or walking may be required.

SALARY. The individual shall receive a $3,000 salary distributed bi-weekly in equal amounts for the duration of employment. b. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. The United Way of Northwest Arkansas will provide an in person orientation and three professional development opportunities to the employee. c. The employee will receive an evaluation of their performance at the end of their employment from their direct supervisor. The evaluation also includes a self-evaluation and program evaluation. Responsibilities: Position Purpose and Community Impact A key member of the Mission Delivery Department, the Mission Delivery Intern will focus on developing partnerships with Hispanic community, especially churches, with the objective to recruit volunteers and girls to springboard a robust Girl Scout program in the Hispanic community in Northwest Arkansas. The Mission Delivery Intern will focus community cultivation in the Hispanic community through outreach to local churches, community centers, and businesses, sharing the strong impact that Girl Scouts makes on girls, families, and communities and developing connections with community leaders for the purposes of recruiting volunteers and girls. The Mission Delivery Intern will also help develop and distribute marketing materials for Girl Scout interest events for girls and volunteers using the Disney Elena of Avalor official partner program materials (more info: http://www.girlscouts.org/inspireleadership) and/or My Promise, My Faith activities. The intern will host Girl Scout interest events, working with a seasoned Girl Scouts Diamonds staff external recruiter. Our goal is for the Mission Delivery Intern to host a total of eight Girl Scout interest events with 30+ attendees per event, with four new troops of 50 girls started from these recruitments and other outreach. While not required, our outreach in heavily Hispanic community centers is intended to recruit Hispanic girls and adults. The Mission Delivery Intern will work with our training department to make sure our new volunteers are fully trained and equipped to provide a quality leadership experience to girls. Support can range from navigation of online tools to attending the first few troop meetings! The Mission Delivery Intern will also facilitate programs for girls through our Special Initiatives programs, including at the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club and George Elementary in Springdale. While Hispanic recruitment and outreach is the main area of focus, our intern will receive a wellrounded experience while working on community cultivation (calling schools, delivering flyers, scheduling recruitments), providing member support focused on Girl Scout renewal, and participating in our staff day at resident camp. The Mission Delivery Intern will hold a final presentation for leadership staff with an overview of their accomplishments and experience at the culmination of their internship.
Duties: Establishes and maintains relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, corporations, faith-based organizations, and other community constituents. Contacts regular and potential community partners to generate awareness of Girl Scouts and generate leads. Plans and implements effective, lead generating, recruiting activities in under served areas Recruits volunteers to work with girls in a variety of settings using traditional and nontraditional means. Develops and administers effective special short-term programs in underserved areas Works closely with the Recruitment Director, Volunteer Director and Program Director to achieve the council s objectives. Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council and the community. Works collaboratively with all Council departments to ensure council program and initiatives are successfully marketed to girl and adult membership. Supports Council, regional, and functional efforts.
