Earthform garden blocks LAYING DETAIL Earthform installation 1 Excavate, level and compact a shallow trench approx. 100mm deep and 500mm wide along the position of the wall. If the ground slopes along the length of the wall, steps of 180mm need to be created. 2 Install the first layer with a distance of 220mm between blocks. A thin layer of sand should be spread and levelled in the bottom of the trench to create a level bed. 3 Backfill in and behind each successive layer of blocks with a suitable gravel/topsoil mixture 1 layer at a time up to the required height of the wall. A string line should be used to ensure accurate alignment of the Earthform garden blocks. Compact the soil behind the blocks to the required density. 4 Suitable vegetation should be planted projecting out of the front face of the wall. Lightly water regularly for good growth. Note: An Istallation guide is available 4 3 2 1 Earthform garden blocks can be stacked up to eight layers high provided that the ground is suitable and that no additional loads are applied at the top of the embankment. For a higher wall an engineer s advice should be sought to comply with Municipal bylaws. Colours shown on front may vary from the true colour due to the printing process. Reg. Enviro-Wall & RockEnviro-Wall The environmental choice LAYING PATTERN Technicrete Enviro-Wall & RocEnviro-Wall construction The concept The Enviro-Wall system is a gravity retaining wall constructed of dry stacked interlocking, precast blocks. The simplicity of the design enables blocks to be easily and rapidly laid to form an effective retaining wall system. Typical applications include earth embankments, bridge abutments, cut slopes, landscaping of cut and fill areas around buildings, protection of steep channels and river banks and culvert inlets and outlets. The Enviro-Wall also has the ability to reduce traffic noise when located adjacent to roadways. The configuration of an Enviro-Wall structure can be altered by opening or closing the spacing between the blocks. In the open arrangement, the cavities between the adjacent blocks can be filled with soil. Moisture in these spaces provide ideal conditions for rapid plant growth. The result is a visually appealing structurally stable retaining wall system. The Enviro-Wall block is also reversible. This allows the designer to use the smooth or textured face or a combination of the two. Many differing visual effects can therefore be achieved. The system The Enviro-Wall system is capable of supporting a wide range of embankment heights. For high and vertical walls a reinforced fill should be used. The geofabric layers can be effectively locked between the Enviro-Wall blocks for additional stability. The angle of inclination of the wall may be set by the base block at 70. This can be varied should site conditions require other angles. The wall is able to accommodate both concave or convex alignments, down to a relatively small radius of curvature. Enviro-Wall structures will accommodate moderate ground settlement. Foundation requirements will vary according to wall height and underlying soil conditions. Technicrete has specialised in precast concrete products for many years and is able to offer comprehensive technical backup facilities. 8 7 1 - base block 1 2 - smooth face 3 - grooved face 4 - filter drain if required 5 - drainage space between blocks 6 - soil fill between blocks in open wall configuration 7 - geofabric reinforcement locked between blocks 8 - foundation details to suit wall height & bearing capacity of in-situ material 4 5 6 2 3 Note: An Istallation guide is available Colours shown on front may vary from the true colour due to the printing process. Florawall garden blocks LAYING DETAIL Florawall installation 1 Excavate, and prepare a level foundation of earth, gravel or concrete as required. Stepped foundations will have 250mm high steps. Compacted earth foundations are usually sufficient for structures not higher than 1,5m. 2 Using a string line & spirit level, ensure that the first row of units is precisely aligned and are level with each other. If using a concrete foundation, a thin layer of mortar placed beneath each unit, will create accurate levelling of the lowest row. 3 Granular backfill should be placed behind each successive tier of blocks, and a fertile mixture (lightly tamped) used to fill each unit. Compact the fill behind the blocks to the required density. Angles can be obtained by stepping back the units as required and curves can be formed by turning the units as they are stacked. 4 Flora can be planted within each block to create an aesethic face to this highly effective retaining structure, particularly deeprooted plants. 1 2 3 4 Florawall garden blocks can be stacked up to six layers high provided that the ground is suitable and that no additional loads are applied at the top of the embankment. For a higher wall an engineer s advice should be sought to comply with Municipal bylaws.
