TOTNES RURAL AREA YOUTH ENGAGEMENT (TRAYE) PROJECT POST TITLE: Youth Outreach Support Worker Self-employed contract worker (6 month fixed term contract; that may be extended) POST GRADE Professional Range (points 10-13) HOURS Average 6 Hours per week (based on one to two separate days) RATE: LOCATION: RESPONSIBLE TO: Up to 10 per hour plus travel expenses Dartington, Marldon, Staverton parishes and outlying venues TRAYE Project Steering Group PURPOSE OF JOB To support the delivery of high quality youth work in open access work environments as agreed by the TRAYE Project Team. To support the promotion of the understanding, development, and implementation of the Youth Work Policy Statement and Quality Standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To provide support for the Youth Outreach Project Worker for TRAYE pilot project that seeks to: Develop and reinstate supported youth activities in designated rural parishes. Re-establish regular youth activities, clubs and networking in Dartington, Marldon and Staverton parishes through events and associated activities. Link youth in Dartington, Marldon and Staverton parishes with some youth activities in Totnes Facilitate young people s personal, social and educational development through high quality youth work activities; Enable vulnerable young people to develop personal resilience as they escalate and de-escalate through different needs and services; Support young people during their transition from dependence to independence; Facilitate young people s voice and influence. CORE TASKS 1. Working alongside the Youth Outreach Project Worker with young people to develop their personal, social and educational development by supporting TRAYE directed activities, services and facilities in their local parish. 2. Support relationships with young people and community groups to embed youth activities in the parishes.
3. To be regularly engaged in face to face work with young people in both open access and targeted provision. 4. Provide stand-in support at youth events and activities as needed by the Youth Outreach Project Worker 5. To attend TRAYE Project meetings, professional development and training opportunities as required. 6. To conform to, actively commit to and promote DCC Customer Service Standards. NOTES The prioritisation of key responsibilities and core tasks at any time will be managed by Youth Outreach Project Worker in discussion with the TRAYE Project Team.
