Managing Soybean Diseases & Insects Topguard EQ fungicide is the only premix combining the benefits of a highly systemic and long-lasting Group 3 fungicide, flutriafol, with a top-of-class Group 11 strobilurin fungicide, azoxystrobin. This unique combination broadens the spectrum of diseases that can be controlled and offers two modes of action to combat disease resistance. Topguard EQ fungicide s two modes of action are distinctly different. Flutriafol provides some of the longest residual control in its class and is very mobile in the plant s xylem. Once applied, flutriafol rapidly penetrates the waxy layer of the leaf and moves throughout the plant to prevent disease onset. Azoxystrobin inhibits fungal respiration, causing the fungal cells to die, and it also reduces plant stress for improved plant health. These two active ingredients provide long-lasting, preventative and curative control of major plant diseases, including those that have developed resistance to strobilurin fungicides. In field trials across the U.S., Topguard EQ fungicide performed equal to or better than competitive standards and provided excellent crop safety. Topguard EQ fungicide is an effective dual mode of action fungicide where strobilurin alone is not enough to combat yield-robbing diseases. The Value of Flutriafol in Topguard EQ Fungicide This series of photographs compares leaf uptake and subsequent plant response to the triazole in Topguard EQ fungicide, flutriafol, versus difenoconazole, the triazole found in Quadris Top SBX fungicide. FMC s patented flutriafol is rapidly taken up by the plant and distributed throughout the leaf to control the spread of disease. All soybean leaves were exposed to Asian soybean rust. The leaf icons on the left indicate the point of application, as shown by the lighter green color. UNTREATED FLUTRIAFOL DIFENOCONAZOLE

Topguard EQ Fungicide Provides Broad-Spectrum Activity on Key Soybean Pathogens Cercospora Leaf Blight Purple Seed Stain Brown Spot Frogeye Leaf Spot Pictures courtesy of University of Illinois, Department of Crop Sciences SOYBEAN APPLICATION GUIDELINES Rate: 5-7 fl. oz./a Timing: R1-R5 For Cercospora leaf blight, begin applications at first flower (R1). For other diseases, apply beginning at first visible flower or when conditions are favorable for disease development. Apply additional applications if environmental conditions are favorable for continued disease development. REI: 12 hours PHI: 21 days Maximum amount/year: 15.5 fl. oz./a Maximum applications: Three applications a year Minimum retreatment interval: 21 days for rust, 14 days for all other diseases Restrictions: Do not feed forage or hay to animals or permit animals to graze. Only one application of product at 8 fl. oz./a may be made to any one field during a single growing season. Do not apply more than three applications per year. Do not apply more than 0.23 lb. a.i. flutriafol per acre per year. Do not apply more than 1.5 lbs. a.i. of azoxystrobin per acre per year.

These fungicide applications were made at the R3 growth stage, and this trial had a high disease severity of frogeye leaf spot. Topguard EQ fungicide provided excellent control of frogeye leaf spot when comparing it to other industry standards and the untreated check. This disease control directly translated to increased yields and provided a significant return on investment.

Insect Control in Soybeans With Hero Insecticide Insect feeding is a common occurrence as we progress through the soybean growing season. Broad-spectrum insect control is essential as we enter the reproductive stages of soybean development to protect yield potential. Hero insecticide is proven, reliable protection against yield limiting insects and is a great tank-mix partner with fungicides, late-season herbicides and foliar fertilizers. SOYBEAN GUIDELINES Rate: 5-10.3 fl. oz./a Timing: Apply as required by scouting. Timing and frequency of applications should be based on insect populations reaching locally determined economic threshold levels. REI: 12 hours PHI: 21 days Maximum amount/year: 41.2 fl. oz./a Maximum amount/application: 10.3 fl. oz./a Spray Volume: Minimum 10 GPA by ground or 2 GPA by air. Coverage is critical for optimum control. Restrictions: Do not make applications less than 30 days apart. Do not graze or harvest treated soybean forage, straw, or hay for livestock feed.
