Silicone s Superiority Silicone rubber is an outstanding synthetic elastomer. It possesses an excellent combination of chemical and mechanical properties, which makes it the superior option vs other organic elastomers. Used in a wide assortment of industries, Silicone is generally nonreactive, resistant to ozone/oxidation, UV light, extreme environments, and stresses. Most notably it can be formulated to perform consistently from 60 C to +300 C. Solid silicone is much stronger and durable than sponge, there are no air bubbles in solid sheet so it will withstand high torque and pressure forces. Perfect for use as a seal or gasket in precision machined applications. Silicone also does not react with most chemicals or the environment, making it ideal for many food and medical applications. As a guide it is safe to operate as if the lifespan of a general-purpose silicone is halved for every 10 C above its intended use. NATIONAL SILICONE www.nationalsilicone.com 5 of 15
