INFORMATION FOR JOB APPLICANTS Stockport Credit Union is a not-for-profit, financial co-operative that provides straightforward, affordable financial services to anyone who lives or works in Stockport. We provide affordable loans at fair rates of interest to meet everyday needs and for larger purchases. Stockport Credit Union is a 'mutual' organisation and that means it is owned by its members and all the benefits are for members alone. It provides an important way for local people and organisations to increase the supply of affordable credit in the community and to help the Credit Union to be sustainable. Any surplus is given back to members in the form of a dividend There have been credit unions in Stockport for over 25 years and in December 2005, Stockport Credit Union (SCU) was formed when Brinnington, Houldsworth, Offerton and Werneth credit unions came together. Over 2,000 people are now members and between them they have nearly 1m of savings and we have 0.5m out on loan. 5
In October 2013, Stockport Credit Union adopted a Business Plan that set out a number of priorities and actions intended to improve capacity, resilience and effectiveness starting with the appointment of a Development Manager funded by Stockport Homes. Since then a number of new products and services have been successfully launched, and the Credit Union is poised to significantly grow its membership and loan book. A new website will be launched in the next 6 months. The Credit Union is now in a position to recruit a Lending Services Officer, a Sales and Marketing Manager and a Member Relationship Officer. This is an ideal opportunity to make a significant contribution to a growing organisation. We are looking for ambitious people who are excellent communicators and who have a professional approach to their work, and ideally with a financial services background. If you are motivated, well organised and work well with a wide range of people we want to hear from you. We need people who can hit the ground running, and who have a clear vision of how they can help us to deliver our ambitious growth targets. 6
