Samer & Co. Shipping, the main company of the group, was established in Trieste in 1919, as an outpost of the British giant Ellerman & Wilson Lines, with the name of EWL Agency Company Limited. In 1932 it was appointed Lloyd s of London Agents and in 1972 Agents for the Institute of London Underwriters. In 1981 the capital shares were taken over by the Italian shareholders, under the guidance and direction of the Managing Director, Mr. Dario Samer, who had joined the company in 1952. In 1985 the company name was changed into Samer & Co. Shipping S.p.A. Trieste.
The headquarters are located in Trieste, whose port was granted a special status and consequently numerous benefits since 1719, under the name of: CUSTOM FREE PORT OF TRIESTE, guaranteeing: Unrestricted access and transit of goods Reduced port taxes and delayed custom duties Customs free zone Limitless storage and exports to overseas destinations On site goods transformation
