HP Database and Middleware Automation Proof of Value Workshop Introduction HP Database and Middleware Automation (DMA) can signifi cantly reduce operating costs in the data center while also improving the quality and speed of completing administrative tasks. It automates change processes, patching and compliance, and the deployment and updating of database and middleware applications and confi gurations throughout their operational lifecycle. This can measurably decrease the time to market for new functionality and eliminate many compliance and security risks by patching in a timely manner. DMA automates and manages the repetitive, time-consuming administrative tasks, performing them in 70-80% less time. This frees up scare valuable DBA resources for higher value activities. Evergreen s Two-Day Proven Business Value Engagement for HP DMA is designed to quickly deliver clear, documented proof as to whether the solution has enough value in YOUR business to warrant further consideration BEFORE investment of your organization s time and resources. It is based on a rapid reengineering of select, high-value database provisioning and confi guration, patching and code release management activities in your facility with your team. The business and IT savings are calculated in your dollars. For data centers with 25 or more DBAs, proven annual labor savings of $1 million+ are not uncommon. Session Descriptions During these fast-paced workshops, Evergreen consultants work with your team to review the range of current DBA activities, determining the top fi ve to ten processes that typically account for 80% of the DBA s time and ranking them for relevance and benefi t impact. For a different perspective, we also determine the top fi ve sources of frustration and ineffi ciency for the DBAs and review these against the rated activities to provide a more complete picture. From these fi ndings, we select several recommended candidates for rapid reengineering those most likely to show the greatest value from automation and those that are fairly representative of the enterprise database environment. We provide a high-level review of the reengineered and automated processes with calculated effi ciency gains in terms of cost and resource time, as well as areas of potential strategic improvement identifi ed during the process. Executive interviews further ensure we gain insight into the project s strategic value and alignment with the data center s overall goals. The workshop sessions conclude with an executive briefi ng on the fi ndings and recommendations to assist in determining the appropriate next steps. These workshops are intended to be conducted as open discussions, guided by Evergreen s industry experience, to explore and determine the true business value of the HP DMA solution across your enterprise.

Day 1, Session 1 Kick-off (1/2 Hour) This is a brief meeting with the executive sponsor and team to ensure we have agreement on the goals, agenda, expectations and direction of the workshop engagement. Identifi ed workshop prerequisites will be reviewed to assure all required information has been provided. Dir./Sr. VP of Operations Dir./Sr. VP of Database and Middleware teams Dir./Sr. VP of Application Development DB or Middleware Solution Architect Refi ne agenda and workshop participant list, if required Day 1, Session 2 Review Database and Middleware Activities (2 Hours) Session 2 begins with the Customer providing an overview of the environment so Evergreen can gain an understanding of the current database and middleware environments and activities. This review session allows for initial discovery and provides an overview of the DMA solution. Evergreen will review the range of DBA activities, determine the top fi ve to ten that typically account for up to 80% of the DBA s time and rank them for relevance and benefi t impact. For a different perspective, we also determine the top fi ve areas of frustration and ineffi ciency for the DBAs and review these against the rated activities to provide a more complete picture. From these fi ndings, we select several recommended candidates for rapid reengineering those most likely to show the greatest value from automation and those that are fairly representative of the enterprise database and middleware environment. Dir./Manager of Operations Dir./Manager of Database and Middleware teams Dir./Manager of Application Development Sr. DB or Middleware Architect DB or Middleware staff member (as appropriate) Verify documented data for accuracy Identify potential targets for DMA effi ciency gains for baseline and review session Day 1, Session 3 Baseline and Review (3 Hours) Evergreen works with your Subject Matter Experts to baseline the identifi ed, high-value activities. We interview your appropriate data center analysts and DBAs who have deep knowledge about current processes. We apply a time and motion reengineering methodology to document the amount of work time and elapsed time required for each of these activities. We also delve more deeply into the discussion of areas that are high sources of frustration and ineffi ciency in the current work set. Once completed, the team will have an agreed-upon baseline for each targeted activity. www.evergreensys.com Page 2 DMAWkspAg_1111_v1

Discussions can include, but are not limited to: Provisioning and confi guration of binaries, databases and middleware Patch Management (includes Quarterly PSU/CPU, Bug Fixes and Security Patches) Database upgrade, migration and cloning Database code release management Managing compliance to internal and external confi guration and regulatory standards (Example: SOX, PCI, CIS, etc.) Dir./Manager of DBA teams (may be optional) Other tool/data/application SMEs Document baseline fi ndings Verify documentation data for accuracy Day 1, Session 4 Interview (1/2 Hour) This session is a one-on-one meeting with the executive sponsor to clarify executive expectations and strategic alignment of the project with business goals, CIO priorities and data center goals and to discuss any fi scal or operational limitations that need to be considered with regard to the project fi ndings. This also gives Evergreen an opportunity to share progress, obstacles, insights and early fi ndings with the executive sponsor. Refi ne understanding and value of business and IT strategic goals that the project may impact positively as well as key success factors from the executive sponsor s perspective Day 2, Session 1 Rapid Reengineering of Targeted Activities (2 Hours) This session focuses on identifying how the DMA solution can change the way database activities are performed. Building on what was discovered during Day 1, we streamline and simplify the baseline processes leveraging the targeted future state capabilities and ensuring that all key functions and requirements are addressed. This reengineering is then documented in the same time and motion methodology used for documenting the baseline processes to show improvements in work time and elapsed time. Review of other potential strategic benefi ts and additional details that will be needed for the workshop deliverables and general Q&A are also covered. www.evergreensys.com Page 3 DMAWkspAg_1111_v1

Dir./Manager of DBA teams Other tool/data SMEs Document rapidly reengineered workfl ows Ensure assumptions, requirements and calculations are correct Ensure reengineered workfl ows meet all business requirements Document other strategic benefi ts Day 2, Session 2 Business Value Calculation (2 Hours) For each activity that has been reengineered, we calculate the labor hours saved for each process, apply your loaded labor rate and multiply by the annual volume of the activities to calculate your labor savings on the reengineered workfl ow(s). We then extrapolate measured savings on a conservative basis (we determine together) to your entire relevant database and middleware environment. Dir./Manager of DBA teams Review and document fi ndings Validate calculations and assumptions made for the reengineering Day 2, Session 3 Prepare Executive Briefing (2 Hours) Evergreen will distill the fi ndings of the workshops and interviews to create an executive briefi ng for the project and executive team. Evergreen Consultants Create a fi ndings briefi ng Clarify strategic benefi ts Clarify proven savings through reengineering against target of $1 million+ annually Day 2, Session 4 Executive Briefing (1 Hour) Evergreen will present the fi ndings gleaned from the Two-Day Proof of Value Workshop for HP DMA. www.evergreensys.com Page 4 DMAWkspAg_1111_v1

This will include: A detailed fi nancial review of proven value from the baseline and reengineered activities The extrapolation of documented gain to the enterprise environment of middleware/database activities A review of the indicated strategic benefi ts arising from the reengineering and automation of work A high-level set of recommendations, including an initial automation roadmap with logical phasing of activities A high-level estimate of potential project costs and timeline aligned with points where return on investment is realized Finally, we will determine whether a decision to move forward with a rapid technical prototype activity to prove the reengineered workfl ows is warranted and if so, what the appropriate next steps are.
