Job Description Job Title: Reports to: Director, Enrollment Management Operations FLSA Status: Exempt Level: 211 Position Class: Job Summary: The Retention Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director, Enrollment Management, will collaborate with academic advising, faculty, enrollment management, and student services personnel to increase student engagement and success. The Retention Coordinator will be responsible for managing, developing, implementing and assessing a comprehensive retention action plan. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following listing of essential job duties indicates the general nature and level of work required in this job. Develops an annual retention plan using resources from across the College to create an actionable set of retention measures. 2. Tracks in real time, activities across the campus related to the overall retention strategies and inform campus leadership regarding needed changes to mitigate any retention declines and promote retention improvements. 3. Coordinates with faculty, enrollment management and student services staff, Office of Planning and Institutitional Effectiveness and other members of the College community to identify populations of students who are most at risk of not completing their educational goals and recommend strategies and activities to improve student retention for these populations. Develops measurable retention strategies and action plans for key student cohorts across campus. 4. Identifies priorities, strategic goals, and action plans to enhance student progress to degree completion. 5. 6. Responsible for analyzing and providing recommendations for retention initiatives based on official student persistence/learning/satisfaction data obtained from Institutional Research and/or other sources. 7. Responsible for providing updates to College leadership regarding retention initiatives and collaborative efforts necessary to ensure retention plan success. 8. Oversees the administration and use of the College s retention solution(s). 9. Serves as a liaison to faculty and staff in the development/improvement of academic programs including providing train-the-trainer support for designated departmental faculty and/or staff to support expanded use of the College s retention solution(s). 10. Develops, maintains and communicates available support services resources for faculty and staff to reference when needing retention assistance. 11. Facilitates collaboration with cross functional areas to promote enhanced access and use of support resources for on-campus and on-line students. 12. Other duties as assigned. Education/Experience: Bachelor s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and two or more years of experience. Experience in advising/mentoring students in a higher education setting. Experience using retention solutions in higher education setting. Experience managing a retention solution in the community college setting is preferred. Supervisory Experience: Two or more years of experience as a lead employee, with responsibility for scheduling and assigning work, facilitating teams, training employees, and assisting others with problems, is required. Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public. Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to work with formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc. Computer Skills: Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, Internet, presentation, web development/editing software; Web conferencing; imaging software and hardware. Experience using enrollment management technology solutions, including CRM, retention, web-based, and online applications preferred. Ability to develop budgets using sound financial information to work within the financial framework of the organization. Responsibility for Communication: Internal Contacts: Routine contact with all levels of SCF faculty and staff; frequent contact with students and with other SCF administrative and support departments. External Contacts: Routine contact with vendors and other colleges; occasional contact with professional organizations, general public, and professionals appropriate for discipline.
