Renewable Energies

Renewable energy - a sustainable energy supply solution The future energy supply of mankind is characterised by an increasing energy demand of a growing population, the limitation of fossil primary energy resources and the impacts of energy utilisation on environment. Particularly the impact of extensive use of fossil resources on the greenhouse gas balance is of global importance. With its huge potential, renewable energy resource utilisation can contribute substantially to a sustainable global energy supply system. Besides this, renewable energy technologies are currently gaining increased competitiveness. This trend owes itself to the significant price reductions achieved by certain technologies in recent years, while in parallel efficiency and reliability increased. At the same time, fossil fuel prices are rising and will, most likely, remain at high level. The wind power market has been booming tremendously since the early nineties and is expected to continue to grow in the future. Large wind parks in the range of 50 to 100 MW are more and more common. Offshore wind parks in an even larger scale are coming up as well. Wind-diesel systems as well as photovoltaic systems - as solar home systems - can be used in rural electrification programmes for developing countries. Photovoltaics can also be applied as grid connected, either as building integrated, or as large PV power plants in open space. Solar thermal power plants can produce electricity independently, or in combination with gas or oil fired combined cycle power plants. Biomass, either as energy crops or as residuals, can be combusted, gasified or fermented to produce heat and electricity, or processed to produce liquid biofuels. Geothermal energy can be used to generate electricity, or directly be utilised for district heating or industrial processes. Grid connected photovoltaic plant, Germany Lahmeyer International possesses comprehensive experience providing engineering and financial advisory services or management support in all phases of renewable energy projects, for the diverse technologies and resource options, from early project identification up to the operation of the plant. We are among the top international consultancy companies in the field of renewable energies. Apart of our unique standing in the hydropower sector, we have a team of more than 50 renewable energy experts covering Parabolic trough collector of a solar thermal power plant all other RE technologies and can easily organise and mobilise project managers, mechanical and electrical engineers, I&C specialists, environmental experts, economic and financial experts for renewable energy projects. Lahmeyer International has been advisor in more than 5000 MW of wind farm projects and more than 7000 MW of renewable energy projects, a large number of which are successfully in operation.

Renewable Energy Resources Our experts have broad experience in measuring and processing of renewable energy resources data: wind, solar radiation, biomass, biomass residuals, geothermal energy. Examples of our special services are: Installation of wind measurement systems, execution of complete wind measurement campaigns, wind data analysis, wind potential analysis. Preparation of wind maps using baseline models like WAsP in flat terrain or sophisticated numerical atmosphere models for complex terrain. Installation of measurement systems for solar global horizontal and direct normal irradiation, execution of complete solar measurement campaigns, data analysis and potential analysis.
