POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Media Scheduling Specialist CATEGORY: Classified FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt GRADE: C (Technology Support) JOB SUMMARY: Research Educational broadcast programs for the EPCC TV Station. Responsible for buying or licensing new or existing programs and creating broadcast schedules to meet the needs of students enrolled in Distance Education courses. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Work with Distance Education Department to determine which telecourses will be offered, find slot for them and provide re-run time. Provide copies of telecourses and distribute to all campus libraries, high schools offering dual credit, and KCOS. Distribute daily programming on-air logs with instructions to the master control operators. Organize program tapes for broadcast on a daily basis for EPCC-TV College Television and surrounding local PBS Television stations ensuring scheduled program tapes meet Broadcast standards. 2. Provide video duplication services of programs for all campus libraries to include PBS television station, EPCC-TV and producers. Maintain inventory of purchased and free programs, in-house productions, promotional materials, master tapes with original recordings, recycled tapes and Board of Trustee meetings. Transfer In-house programs from Blue-Ray to DVD and keep DVD Masters. Copies of in-house productions are distributed to guests appearing on the shows and the President s office as requested. 3. Contact vendors for quotes on new series and programming rights. Look for new educational programs and request preview material. Submit proposals to supervisor; maintain a budget for broadcast rights and purchases per fiscal year and prepare requisitions; develop a spreadsheet to tally the expenses and pre-paid amounts; keep an inventory of all duplications performed and charge the appropriate departments for their requests. 4. Print and distribute broadcast schedules for weekly programming; schedule promotional spots and ID s according to time. Contact different school districts to request their Board Meetings, and regular programming. Write changes on the schedule and inform master control of these changes. 5. Research and make proposals to purchase new programming. Contact vendors for programming rights and new series availability for purchase. Ensure programs are played as scheduled, make corrections or last minute changes to include School Districts and EPCC Board Meetings and promos. 6. Type and maintain files for letters, forms, reports and other written material; receive faxes of various documents as requested. 7. Preview new programs provided free of charge by the Massachusetts School of Law on a monthly basis for broadcast quality and content, then, schedule them to air. 8. Assist the studio crew with in-house productions and master control operations to include the server. Assist the department administrative assistant in the receptionist area by answering telephones, taking messages, routing and following up calls; and provide clerical support as necessary. 9. Perform other duties as assigned. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director, EPCC TV ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Associate s Degree in Office Information Systems or Media. Duplicating System which includes U-Matic, BetaCam, DVCam, VHS, DVD, and Blue Ray; media degausser, Broadcast television program server (Nexio 4000). 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and Outlook Calendar.
