Gas and liquid analysis No matter what kind of process medium needs to be continually analyzed, the name of Siemens represents expertise in analytical technology both for products and for system solutions. Liquid analysis The Sipan 32 and 34 analytical devices make liquid analysis easy. They offer the highest level of convenience following the "all inclusive" principle, no matter whether the customer needs 2- or 4-wire technology, a field or rackmounted device or explosion proof devices. Electrical conductivity can be determined from high-purity water to concentrated acids, and ph measurements are possible from biotechnology applications to demanding chemical process monitoring. Dissolved oxygen is reliably determined both in sterile applications as well as in contaminated wastewater. The broad programme of sensors and fittings covers the complete application and measuring range over 9 orders of magnitude. Needless to say, both devices come with a HART and Profibus-DP/ -PA interface and can be seamlessly integrated into the higher-level automation environment with the Simatic PDM configuration tool. Series 6 Gas analysis The robust and field-proven analytical devices of the Oxymat, Ultramat, Calomat and Fidamat product families can be used anywhere where process gases need to be continually monitored. All devices can be easily connected to the automation system via integrated RS 485 and Profibus-DP/-PA interfaces as well as parameterized and operated with the Simatic PDM tool. For quick and easy maintenance, the devices can also communicate with the Siprom GA software tool. All the devices in the Series 6 Ultramat, Calomat and Oxymat families are also available in an explosion-proof version for hazardous zones 1 and 2. Calomat The Calomat determines the composition of a process gas via its thermal conductivity. It is primarily used for the measurement of H 2 concentrations in Ar, N 2, top gas and CO 2. The complete analyzer comprises unique hardware (physics and electronics) and specific application software. Powered by innovation Expertise in process analysis Steadily moving towards becoming a world-class supplier in process analysis, Siemens is constantly expanding its product range and adding to its expertise. Welldirected acquisitions promote the growth strategy of Siemens in the process analysis field. The takeover of the US company Applied Automation has made Siemens the world s leading supplier of process gas chromatograph products with innovative modular concepts for almost every application. As the most recent addition to the Siemens analysis family, Siemens Laser Analytics uses the expertise and knowledge of the Swedish company Alt Optronic. With diode laser spectrometry, Siemens now has one of the most innovative and fastest-growing technologies for in-situ measuring technology in its product range. However, the systems already included in the Siemens product range still continue to be further developed. And obviously, any experience gained from the new technologies is also included in these developments. Two new NIR spectrometers open up a range of new applications in process spectrometry. Global solutions for global industries Siemens now has worldwide access to a network of solution providers. Wherever customers need a solution for their process analysis problem, Siemens can provide them with the right product or a tailor-made system solution and service. Siemens is close to its customers around the world with its product portfolio and highly efficient employees. All around the globe, highly motivated teams in three Centers of Competence are ready to respond to their customers needs. Competent staff in Bartlesville and Houston in the USA supports customers in the Americas. Experts in Karlsruhe work for customers based in Europe and Africa. Customer problems in the Asia/Pacific region are solved from the regional headquarter in Singapore. Individual system solutions are worked out in cooperation with local system offices, which add to the network with their specific knowledge. This means that Siemens can offer both universal and individual systems, products and services for process analysis in the most diverse of industries around the world. NIR spectrometry Siemens spectrometers are the key to analysis and control tasks for various industries such as refineries/petrochemicals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage and many other areas of application. Transmission principle Optic path Light source AOTF-Crystal Process Detector Reflection principle Detector Light source AOTF-Crystal Sample AOTF spectrometer Sinis A The Sinis A with its small, lightweight design has more to offer than just its very reasonable purchase price. The concept features user-friendly, simple operation for measurements and is suitable for hazardous areas. This means that the device is ideal for applications in many industries such as chemicals and food and beverage. Owing to the possibility of remotely connecting the measuring probe via fiber-optic cable, the actual device can also be installed outside the process this is of considerable advantage where space is very limited or where particular safety and hygiene guidelines apply. The Sinis A also allows nonintrusive examination of solid samples and strongly absorbent liquids with a specially developed sensor for diffuse reflection. The system can also be installed directly above the production line and facilitates rapid scans to determine concentration data and quality sizes. For example, the moisture content of powders can be reliably examined or the composition of granulates can be monitored. By increasing the number of random samples, the spectrometer improves the quality control of raw materials and final products. The Sinis A delivers fast results, guarantees complete documentation and allows the exchange of data with batch processes. Mass spectrometry Quantra mass spectrometer Siemens has launched Quantra, the world's first ICR (Ion Cyclotron Resonance) mass spectrometer for online applications a small, yet robust high-resolution analyzer, with an excellent price/ performance ratio. Quantra is ideal for a range of applications such as trace gas analysis and emission measurements in the chemical industry and residual gas analysis in the semi-conductor industry. Thanks to its unique mass resolution and the mathematical Fourier transformation, the analysis results produced by Quantra are signifi- cantly better than those of comparable mass spectrometers. Quantra can reliably identify compounds with almost identical masses. The device was specially designed for harsh process environments, featuring a low maintenance need, maintenance-free vacuum system, long-life injection valves and built-in battery back up for major subsystems. B Broad mass range B Very good mass resolution B Low maintenance need B Simple handling B Very reasonable price Diode laser spectrometry Diode laser spectrometer LDS 3000 The LDS 3000 diode laser spectrometer looks directly into the heart of the process. The device can be used for in-situ concentration measurement in gases, for example in exhaust gas treatment or filter systems and also provides reliable results at high temperatures and dust concentrations. The LDS 3000 uses single-line absorption spectroscopy at NIR wavelengths directly at the point in the process where the measured value is required. The diode laser is tuned to the precise absorption line of the gas which is to be measured, e.g. NH 3, CO or O 2. With O 2 the gas temperature can be measured simultaneously. Fiberoptic cables transfer the laser light from the central unit, which can be up to 1,000 m away, to the measuring point. The gas concentration can be calculated by evaluating the returning optical signal. This innovative measuring principle does not just guarantee that the result is almost absolutely independent from the dust load in the gas to be measured. The remote interface also allows several sensors for the same gas to be operated with only one central unit. B In-situ measurement B Independent of dust load B Robust and reliable B Sensors connected via fiber-optic cables B Several sensors possible per central unit
