Mk5 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge - Cygnus 4+ GENERAL PURPOSE The Cygnus 4+ GENERAL PURPOSE is a light, tough multimode thickness gauge. It features an A-Scan display and simple sequential data logging. The gauge also boasts a large and bright colour LCD display (with grayscale option for sunlight readability). The program can generate PDF reports and export to Excel. It also displays AScans and B-Scans, allowing for after-the-event analysis of logged measurements. THREE VERSATILE MEASURING MODES VARIETY OF PROBES Multiple-Echo (Single Crystal Probes) uses three error checked back wall echoes to provide the most reliable and accurate remaining thickness measurements, with no need to remove coating (up to 20mm thick (0.8")). Cygnus Stainless Steel INOX Probes (Single Crystal) Used in Multiple-Echo mode, these probes include replaceable membranes for long life, require no zeroing and have a high linear accuracy. Multiple-Echo Diagram Cygnus Stainless Steel INOX Probes (Twin Crystal) Used in Echo-Echo and Single-Echo modes, these probes have improved measurability on extreme back wall corrosion and pitting. DURABLE CABLES Echo-Echo (Twin Crystal Probes) measures through coatings of up to 1mm (0.04") thick, ideal for measuring painted metals with back wall corrosion. Single-Echo (Twin Crystal Probes) ideal for measuring uncoated metals with heavy back-wall corrosion. Single Crystal Probes - Data Sheet To complement our range of ultrasonic thickness gauges we offer a range of ultrasonic probes. The performance of any ultrasonic thickness gauge relies heavily on the quality of the probe and its suitability to the material being measured. Therefore selecting the right probe is vital. Single Crystal Probes are used with the gauge in Multiple Echo mode and allow measurements to be taken ignoring coatings. Constructed from stainless steel, they have a soft face incorporating a replaceable wear membrane. This protects the probe face ensuring years of reliable, accurate service. Guidelines for Probe Frequency Selection The probe frequency will be determined by the minimum thickness you need to measure, however the lower the frequency the more effective the ultrasound will be at penetrating coatings and corrosion. The S2C 13mm INOX probe is recommended for the majority of applications as it performs the best on corroded metal and through thick coatings. Twin Crystal Probes - Mk5 Surface Gauges Data Sheet To compliment our ultrasonic thickness gauges we offer a range of ultrasonic probes. The performance of any ultrasonic thickness gauge relies heavily on the probe and its suitability to the material being measured. Therefore selecting the right probe is vital. Twin Crystal Probes are used with our gauges in Echo-Echo or Single Echo modes. This type of probe is particularly suited to measuring on heavily corroded metals. All Cygnus probes are made form Stainless Steel 304 and have a hard wear face which will wear down as the probe is used. In Echo-Echo Mode, up to 1mm of surface coating can be read through & ignored. Single Echo Mode should only be used when there are no surface coatings.
