OUR ASPIRATION Electricity in the 21 st century? We re ready. The global energy market is changing profoundly. It s shifting from non-renewable consumption towards renewable energy generation, but there is also a tremendous growth in demand for electrical energy. National grids are potentially components in a global supply network. Decentralised, regenerative generation enhances this networking tendency. Transformers and therefore copper are enormously important in the power supply industry and the associated equipment. They are what makes it possible for us to use electricity. Electricity is converted up to five times between the power station and the consumer: from its 380,000 Volt maximum to 230 Volt low voltage and at each stage it s a transformer that does this conversion. For many years, MKM has been producing ETP (Electrolytic Tough-Pitch) copper strip for distribution transformers compliant with every international standard as well as to special customised requirements. We can guarantee consistently high quality because we supply our own primary material made from Conti-M preliminary strip, and because we have advanced technology and equipment. Key product properties such as technically grease-free surfaces and specially rounded edges have made MKM the world market leader in winding strip for transformers. And we want to keep it that way. 3
TRANSFORMER STRIP Modern technology is getting smart. Our transformer strip already is. Here at MKM we love looking at transformers. They re pure potential in the best possible sense. That s thanks to our transformer strip in power plants and substations, in local distribution networks, in wind power and industrial plants. Transformers have hearts hearts made of copper wound coils. The principle is always the same, whether in large-scale transformers, power transformers, oil distribution or cast resin transformers. The aim of a transformer is to lose as little power as possible, and to achieve that the materials and manufacturing processes used are crucial. A transformer s efficiency depends among other things on material resistances, MKM s transformer strip guarantees especially high efficiency because of its special windings, high purity surface, smoothness and freedom from burrs. MKM has for years possessed the expertise required to produce edges that surpass mandatory standards. Before each coil is dispatched, its residual carbon content is measured in mg/dm 2 in our own laboratory. By opting for MKM transformer strip you are choosing: technically grease-free, clean surfaces lab certified residual carbon content in mg/dm 2 on request rounded edges starting from 0.30 mm thickness, < 0.30 mm low-burr trimmed edges camera and computer-aided surface inspection of both sides of strips high dimensional accuracy high electrical conductivity corrosion-resistance homogenous materials Examples of rounded edges (lab images) 4

Product areas STRIP MKM supplies preliminary strip, industrial strip, transformer strip, cable and HF cable strip and roofing strip. We manufacture all of our strip products using our Conti-M technology which we developed inhouse, using continous casting technology to achieve a uninterrupted 24/7 process. SHEETS, PLATES AND DISCS MKM offers sheets, plates and discs in a wide range of dimensions. Our rolling mill is supplied by our own foundries. Our strengths lie in a rich range of more than fifty alloys. We can also produce plates and discs to customer specific drawings on request. WIRE MKM supplies the entire spectrum of wire rod, from thick, medium and fine wire to stranded wire and wire rope. Our fully integrated Contirod technology allows us to offer copper wire products and alloy wire products (plain and tinned) with a wide range of finishes. TUBES MKM supplies tubes of different lengths, diameters and thicknesses. Our HETCU (installation tubing) and HETCOOL (refrigeration, air conditioning and medical technology) product families are extremely well established in the market. Consistent quality management from our own continuous casting plant, right through to the tube drawing process guarantees seamless tubing with outstanding quality. BARS MKM is one of Europe s leading producers of copper bars and profiles. Our production range encompasses a wide range of sizes in various grades of copper. We also produce customised profiles based on technical drawings. CUSTOM SOLUTIONS MKM develops solutions tailored entirely to its customers requirements. With the technical means and many years of experience, we regularly find unconventional solutions. We can manufacture any of our products in compliance with the relevant DIN standards, internationally established standards and custom requirements.
