A guide to your benefits This guide provides a brief summary of the range of benefits available to all staff through our Showing we care about you programme. Further information about all the initiatives is available on the Benefits pages on GTi (the Trust intranet).

At Guy s and St Thomas we are committed to ensuring our staff feel valued and have the support they need to do their job to the best of their ability. Happy, healthy, engaged staff are more likely to continue working here, more likely to recommend us as a place to work and more likely to provide better quality patient care. Our Showing we care about you programme offers you a wide range of benefits and support to help in your professional, personal and family life. Whether it be the generous annual leave entitlement, on-site gym facilities, free physiotherapy, our training and development schemes or support for parents and carers all staff can benefit from our Showing we care about you programme. Further information about all the support outlined in this booklet is available on the Benefits section of GTi (the Trust s intranet) and via the My GSTT staff app (download details are available on GTi). Amanda Pritchard, Chief Executive 2

WORK-LIFE BALANCE Comprehensive policies and supportive culture We have a comprehensive work-life balance policy which outlines the way in which staff can maintain a suitable balance between their home and work life. Flexible working options and support for those who care for others are backed up by campaigns such as HALT take a break and monthly Email-free Fridays. Family and childcare support The Trust offers parents a choice between childcare vouchers and the Government s new Tax-Free Childcare scheme, enabling parents to select the most tax-efficient option for their family. Support is available for emergency childcare, and information on finding childcare for older children can also be provided. Support for carers Our Carers Pack aims to help staff who have caring responsibilities and includes information on carers assessment, carers allowance, legal information, useful contacts and other agencies who can provide support. Buy and sell annual leave Eligible staff can buy and sell up to five days holiday a year, providing flexibility when you need it and helping to promote a good work-life balance. 6

HEALTHY EATING Dietitians at Work Our occupational dietetic service provides staff with dietary advice and a dedicated weight management service. This can be part of a group or on a 1:1 basis. Contributions are tax-free and membership provides valuable protection for your family, including life assurance and a pension if you are too ill to work. We also provide retirement and pension planning courses to help you understand your options for the end of your career. Local and national discounts There are many places where your Trust ID badge can save you money. Visit the staff discounts pages on GTi. Register on Communic@te to post and view other offers, discounts and tickets available to staff. Staff discounts As a member of staff, you are able to access lots of offers and discounts including an exclusive shopping online discount programme providing savings from major retailers, such as subsidised Microsoft Office for home use. You can access the whole range of discounts via GTi. Credit Union services The Trust s Credit Union offers a range of everyday financial services with a simple deduction from your salary. In partnership with London Mutual, this staff benefit gives you access to savings accounts, ethical payday loans, current accounts and Christmas Clubs. Showing we care about you 9

SALARY SACRIFICE SCHEMES The Trust offers a number of schemes which enable you to give up some of your cash earnings in return for non-cash benefits, taking advantage of tax and national insurance savings on some schemes. Please note: salary sacrifice may not be suitable for all staff: Cycle to Work scheme If you travel to work by bike, then take a look at the Cycle to Work scheme. It allows you to buy bikes and accessories at a discounted rate from a range of shops across the UK. Childcare vouchers If you pay for registered childcare it might be cheaper for you to pay for it with childcare vouchers and have the cost deducted from your salary, which can lead to savings in tax and national insurance contributions. You have until 31 March 2018 to register for childcare vouchers - the scheme will then be frozen to new entrants. Staff loans The Trust may be able to offer an interest-free welfare loan to you for sudden and unforeseen circumstances. Visit the GTi loans pages for more information and the terms and conditions. Travel season ticket loans Buying a travel season ticket for work can be costly. To help spread the cost the Trust offers an interest-free loan up to 100% of the value of the season ticket for eligible staff. Lease cars Eligible staff can use a sacrifice salary scheme to access a brand new lease car. Home electronics The scheme includes computers, TVs, white goods and mobile phones. For more information visit the reward and benefits section on the intranet. 10

YOUR CAREER DEVELOPMENT Education, Training and Development We believe that all staff are entitled to, and should be encouraged to take part in, lifelong learning and career development. The Education, Training and Development (ET&D) department, Simulation and Interactive Learning (SaIL) Centre and Postgraduate Medical Education Department organise and deliver a wide range of internal courses. These include induction, mandatory training, personal development, leadership programmes, programmes for newly qualified health professionals, accredited diplomas, university study days and modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Coaching and mentoring Our award winning coaching and mentoring service is designed to support individual development and release the talent of our staff. Both coaching and mentoring have a positive impact on personal, professional and organisational development. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) The Trust seeks to support you with your CPD, whether through funding, time off or a combination of these. There are a range of internal and external opportunities to enable you to be involved in CPD activity. Showing we care about you 11

Tell us what you think We regularly evaluate and adapt the programme to ensure we support the needs of our changing workforce. If you have any feedback about our Showing we care about you benefits please let us know by emailing: benefits@gstt.nhs.uk.
