Digitization, Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 are presenting major challenges to our customers. This calls for applicationspecific solutions capable of measuring, processing and communicating data in a way that generates maximum added value for the customer. Digital transformation is a top priority for Kistler in 2018. This transformation touches upon every area of Kistler s business, reaching far beyond the mere implementation of digital technologies. We are currently testing the opportunities that are becoming available through digitization for new business models and organization, as well as our product and system portfolio. For our product and system portfolio, for instance, this means expanding our actual product offering (hardware) to include data-related services, ancillary services and software. Our three divisions have accepted the challenge. Thanks to our acquisitions of the past year, Kistler now has a number of new technologies at our disposal, which we will continue to develop on an increasing scale with our customers in mind gaining a leading edge through innovation in the process. Digitize Synchronize Optimize Testing connected cars more efficiently The Internet of Things will make a lasting mark on the automotive industry in the coming years: Trends such as self-driving cars and connected cars with networked services call for increasingly complex test setups. Automotive manufacturers frequently outsource these to their suppliers, confronting suppliers with the challenge of conducting the tests quickly, efficiently and accurately. With the in-house Digital Transducer Interface (DTI) Competence Center and many years of experience, Kistler is a strong partner that makes its customers processes easier with the right technology and ancillary services. Kistler is the first and only manufacturer to offer advanced DTI technology for vehicle dynamics and durability testing. The fast, efficient test setup with the one cable for everything concept guarantees maximum process reliability and time savings. Advantages such as WLAN data transmission and automatic sensor detection make the technology even more user-friendly. With complete Kistler test solutions, even complex vehicle tests can be conducted quickly and safely. /art Many of our OEM customers have tremendous time constraints when it comes to test planning and execution. As a committed partner, we make it our job to make vehicle testing faster and easier. And to ensure maximum process reliability and precision you can count on our test data, 100%. DR. Connected, from the sensor to the ERP Our division is dedicated to the vision of providing the global production industry with high-performance process monitoring systems that bring quality and efficiency on the production floor to a new level. This calls for a two-pronged approach: industryand application-specific systems must be developed on the one hand, and data must be measured, processed and communicated in a way that generates maximum added value for the customer on the other. But it all boils down to two key concepts: data consistency and connectivity. With the acquisition of IOS GmbH, a specialist in MES systems, Kistler s skill set has gained a vital link in this value chain from the sensor to the ERP. At the application level, IPC already offers a broad spectrum of application-specific control and monitoring systems, for joining processes, bonding and welding, injection molding and fastening technology, to name a few. With the acquisition of Vester Elektronik GmbH, another area has been added: Vester automatic test units ensure 100% testing of metal and hybrid parts by means of highly developed optoelectronic sensors and software, giving Kistler access to the growth market of machine vision. To this end, a Competence Center for image processing software will soon be established in Germany. /ipc With the acquisition of Vester, not only are we gaining industry know-how in stamping and metal forming, we are also significantly expanding our range of products. Thanks to optical sensors and image processing, we now have additional technologies we can use to systematically advance our process monitoring systems.
