Question 1: Connectivity? Public Connection: Make your BOE platform publicly available (http or https) Limited extra effort/cost Possible security threat Secure Connection: VPN Extra effort/cost Secure Secure Connection (VPN)
Question 2: For which devices? Originally, only a tablet version was requested After interviewing the end-users, the most requested device was phone. Tablet and phone version is needed
Question 3: Standard Mobile app or custom? Standard app (SAP BusinessObjects Mobile): No extra work You have to follow SAP upgrade strategy and timing Connection needs to be set-up by end user Own app: Extra work Create Android app and ios app You can have your own upgrade strategy and timing You can embed the connection You can create multiple app s (per user group) Own app was the choice
Question 4: Redesign a Mobile enabled Dashboard? Re-create your dashboard in a mobile version or open existing dashboard on a mobile device. Technology wise Webi supports mobile No extra maintenance Usability Navigation/Filter is created mouse centric and not finger centric Interaction is located on the top of the screen Screen content The initial screen is packed with content and tables Tables are not mobile friendly The use of the dashboard is different for mobile and desktop Mobile is to follow up and see the trends Desktop is to go into detail and investigate Redesign Mobile version is needed

Some tips for mobile use Tablet version Usability: tablets using both hands freeing up the thumbs in the process. Navigation to the bottom and finger friendly interaction (switches, dropdown box, buttons, ) Simplification No large tables Amount of objects different per device Clear charts Phone version Offline IT promotes always online for mobile Offline data is unsecure

SAP BO Mobile roll-out process Decide how you want to connect to your SAP BOE BI platform: 1. Public: make your BOE BI platform publically available (via https) 2. Secure connection: make a secure connection (e.g. VPN) from your mobile device. Decide how you want to rollout your app: 1. Use the default app from SAP 2. Customize the app to your needs. Make your BOE content available for mobile usage or build mobile specific content. Choose your toolset: Design Studio, Lumira and/or Web Intelligence. Customize for touch screen and screen size (pc vs tablet vs phone). Connect mobile device to SAP BOE BI platform Choose your devices Mobile app rollout BOE security Build your content Mobile app distribution Decide which devices and platforms you want to support: 1. Device: Phone and/or tablet 2. Platforms: ios and/or Android Configure mobile specific security on the SAP BOE BI platform: Who can access SAP BO Mobile? Offline content allowed a time to live? Saving BOE password allowed? App password required? Etc. Decide how you want to distribute your apps: 1. Pull: download from public app store (ios or Play) 2. Conclusion Setting up a Mobile reporting is a project (16 days) All the steps need to be covered for a good mobile reporting experience Use case Layout/Usability Devices Mobile Application Security Mobile Application Distribution Roll-out is currently postponed at Barco till a Mobile Device Management solution is in place. Significant investment (if only for mobile BI) Required for BARCO security policy and global roll-out (Public company, highly competitive technology sector, )
