3 Answer all the questions. 1 Welding is used to join pieces of metal together. The metal is melted by heating it to a very high temperature. Ethyne is a gas used in welding. Burning this gas in oxygen gives a flame that is extremely hot. (a) Suggest why ethyne is burned in oxygen rather than in air. Put a tick ( ) in the box next to the correct answer.
