Base 2015 April 2018 Provisional data The annual variation of the Industrial Price Index stands at %, six tenths of a percent above that registered in March The monthly rate of industrial prices is 0.7% Annual evolution of industrial prices The annual rate for the general Industrial Price Index (IPRI) in April was %, six tenths of a percent above that registered in March. By economic destination of the goods, the industrial sectors with the greatest positive influence in this increase were: Energy, with a variation rate of 5.1%, more than two points higher than last month, due to the increase in the prices of Manufacture of refined petroleum products, which decreased in April 2017. It is noteworthy, although in the opposite direction, the decrease in the prices of Electric power generation, transmission and distribution, compared to their increase last year. Intermediate goods, whose variation increased two tenths to 2.3%. Worth noting in this behaviour was the increase in the prices of Manufacture of prepared animal feeds and of Manufacture of basic chemicals, fertilisers and nitrogen compounds, plastics and synthetic rubber in primary forms, which decreased in 2017. On the other hand, among the industrial sectors with the greatest negative influence on the evolution of the annual rate of the general index, worth noting were: Non-durable consumer goods, with a variation rate of 0.1%, three tenths lower than the previous month, due to the decrease in the prices of Processing and preserving of meat and production of meat products as compared to the increase registered in the previous year. Monthly evolution of industrial prices In April, the monthly variation of the overall IPRI was 0.7%. By economic destination of the goods, among the industrial sectors that presented a positive contribution to the general index, worth noting were: Energy, with a variation rate of 2.1% and a contribution of 0.646, due to the increase in the prices of Manufacture of refined petroleum products and, to a lesser extent, of Manufacture of gas; distribution of gaseous fuels through mains. It is also noteworthy, although in the opposite direction, the decrease in the prices of Electric power generation, transmission and distribution. Intermediate goods, whose monthly variation of 0.2% was a consequence generalised price increases in most of its components, particularly of Manufacture of basic chemicals, fertilisers and nitrogen compounds, plastics and synthetic rubber in primary forms. A more detailed analysis shows the activities that most affected the monthly rate of the IPRI in the month of April. Results by Autonomous Community. Annual variation rates The annual rate of the IPRI increased in eight Autonomous Communities, remained constant at one and decreased in the remaining eight. The greatest increases were observed in Región de Murcia, Castilla La Mancha and Galicia, whose annual rates increased by 3.2, 2.6 and 2.1 points respectively. The greatest decreases were recorded in Canarias and Extremadura, with decreases of five tenths, and in Aragón and Comunidad de Madrid, whose rates decreased four tenths.
