The Arctic Around the North Pole Boundary: Arctic Circle 66 33 N Arctic Ocean Canada, Russia, USA, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Greenland (Denmark) Temperature: -50 C to +10 C Covered by ice most of the year 90 billion barrels of recoverable oil 1,700 trillion cubic feet of natural gas Mining Projects Port Infrastructure Basics 23
Dockwise Experience Transports to and from remote areas with limited ice coverage No operational experience in the Arctic Vessels with minimal ice class notation: MV Transshelf, MV Forte and MV Finesse Several studies performed Northern Lights / Mackenzie River transports IZOK Mining Project Northern Sea Route Feasibility Study Ice Class Vessel Study (Ballastable semisubmersible) 24

Transport and Installation (T&I) Scenarios GBS in the Arctic Concrete base 45000mT Topsides Fabrication Location: Korea Install Location: Herschel Island area Installation Schedule: August-September Sailing time: 14 days Scenario 1: Integrated Platform Scenario 2: Non-integrated Platform Transport Vessels required: 4 1 for GBS 1 for the Topside 2 Barges/Vessels for Float-over 30
T & I Scenarios Project Sequence: Seabed preparation. Tugs and float-over barges or vessels delivered at staging location. (sheltered location with pre-laid anchor points). Arrival of GBS and Topsides transport vessels carrying the GBS and Topsides arrive at staging site. GBS discharge and Installation. Transport vessel departs after discharge. Scour protection by Boskalis vessels and any associated GBS installation operations. In parallel - Topside transfer to two barges/vessels and float-over preparations started. Second transport vessel departs. Perform float-over. Barges demobilized and tugs if necessary. Carry on with on-site hook up and commissioning on platform. 31
Conclusion Arctic operations are challenging Very $$$ The appetite to develop this area is growing Project specific approach Planning and secure long lead equipment early Extend contract period of vessels Risk assessments during project planning Specialized Vessels vs. Regular Vessels Technology is available Environmental and Logistics challenge 32
