The East Asian Weed Science Congress in Commemoration of 30 th Anniversary of KSWS The Korean Society of Weed Science hosts an International Weed Science Congress named The East Asian Weed Science Congress in commemoration of her 30 th anniversary. The Congress will focus on the most common and important topics in the East Asian countries, i.e., herbicide resistance, integrated weed management, and new technology in weed science. Key weed scientists invited from China, Japan and Korea will give invaluable speeches. We also encourage presentation of scientific papers in oral and poster sessions. Jeju, where the Congress will be held, is the most prestigious exotic island and the first tourist attraction in Korea. Jeju is a volcanic island, 130 km from the southern coast of Korea. The largest island and smallest province in Korea, the island has a surface area of 1,846 km 2. A central feature of Jeju is Hallasan, the tallest mountain in South Korea and a dormant volcano, which rises 1,950 m above sea level. Three hundred sixty satellite volcanoes are around the main volcano. Its unique and wellreserved nature has made Jeju selected as Biosphere Reserve in 2002, World Natural Heritage in 2007 and Global Geo-park in 2010. Jeju is now nominated as one of the final candidates of the New 7Wonders of Nature (see http://www.new7wonders.com/). Visa is exempted for visitors from other countries as Jeju is only one special self-governing province in Korea. Therefore, Jeju welcomes all the participants from overseas and will provide comfortable stay with unforgettable memory during the Congress.
