Imagine it in Chromadek & Chromadek Ultim 3
What is Chromadek Ultim? Chromadek - Your trusted name in roofing since 1976. - The registered trademark name for ArcelorMittal South Africa s prepainted steel. Chromadek Ultim Is pre-painted galvanised steel especially intended for heavy industrial or marine conditions, and comprises a Z275 hot-dipped galvanised substrate, pre-primed with a chrome free primer (Dry Film Thickness of 20µm) and finished with a final coat (Dry Film Thickness of 18-22µm) on the top surface, giving a total dry film thickness of 38-42µm. The reverse surface is coated with a 10µm corrosion resistant chrome free primer and a 10µm top surface paint system. 4
What is Pre-painted Steel? Pre-painted roofsheet steel is generally composed of a steel substrate protected by a corrosion resistant metallic coating, a surface treatment, a primer and a topcoat. Also Heat Reflective Green credentials, Cr free! Edge protection 5
Differences between Chromadek and Chromadek Ultim Chromadek Ultim 6
Quick facts on the paint system the substrate? the surface treatment? the primer? The steel substrate is hot-dip galvanized. The zinc layer gives a first protection against corrosion in Z200 for Chromadek and >Z275 for Chromadek Ultim. The surface treatment is the first step in coil coating. This is a very thin layer of a few nanometers to ensure the adhesion of the organic layer to the substrate enhancing the corrosion resistance. The role of the primer is to promote adhesion ensuring the corrosion resistance of the top or bottom coat application, usually applied from 5µm. 7
More facts on the paint system the topcoat? The topcoat provides the required surface characteristics, such as final appearance (colour, gloss & texture), hardness, resistance to ultraviolet and resistance to abrasion. the back coat? Similar to the top coat with less harsh exposure and most importantly to guard against opportunistic corrosion derived from moisture and condensation (in certain instances the back coat is unwashed and this presents an opportunistic area for failure), this is where Chromadek Ultim is superior. 8
Heat reflective roofing solutions It s really cool! An exciting development in Heat Reflective roofing solutions Four of the colours of the Chromadek range (See Data Sheet C1.4), Charcoal Grey, Dark Dolphin, Buffalo Brown and Aloe Green utilize an advanced thermal technology paint system. This advanced paint system incorporates a heat reflective pigment providing up to 8 C cooling and improved durability. The durability of an exterior coating is measured according to its capability of maintaining gloss, colour and film integrity. How Heat Reflective Chromadek works? The heat reflective pigments present in Heat Reflective Chromadek are chemically inert and highly stable. Heat Reflective Chromadek reflects more of the sun s energy to prevent the coating from absorbing energy directly resulting in less heat build up resulting in longer life-cycles (less fading). 9

Facts about Chromadek products 1. Aesthetic appeal Variety of great colours. Making a surface more appealing. This includes colour, gloss and structure. 2. Corrosion protection Predictable life cycle per area. 3. Resistance to UV Less fading, more stable paint systems. 4. Thermal efficiency Its really cool (designed to be heat reflective). 5. Lightweight Reduces load on supporting structure (lighter weight per area vs cement tiles, residential applications). 6. Flexibility Traditional straight roof or innovative curved roofing designs. 11
What differentiates Chromadek? The ultimate corrosion barrier, galvanised Zn based steel roofing provides ultimate corrosion protection 12
Improved paint systems for Chromadek The aesthetic life is governed by the stability of the paint system against degradation from sunlight (UV, temperature) which is revealed by the degree of fading. 13

Indication of warranty by region Chromadek is suitable for greater than 5km from the high water mark and industrial exposure. For or up to 400m from the high water mark (sea) or for heavy industrial exposure Chromadek Ultim is your solution. (Terms and conditions apply). Helps you to make the right choice by region 17
Branding & marking: Know what you buy If it doesn t say Chromadek, it won t last like Chromadek. Not all colour roof sheeting is Chromadek. Chromadek, is marked on the reverse side at intervals of approximately. 900mm, parallel to the length of the strip, about 25mm from the edge. The letters are approximately 5mm in height and of the dot-matrix type. 18
Why Chromadek Ultim? The paint system configuration on the back coat. Newer paint system formulation to improve fading. Can be used in coastal areas and heavy industrial applications More design choices. Improved corrosion resistance (Thicker Zinc coating and primer) Cost effective solution. Increased warrantees on perforation for specific areas. We stand by our product. ArcelorMittal South Africa is always willing to investigate any possible claims. Offers the opportunity to install steel-roofing closer to the sea. 19
Watch this space! In future later in 2014 ArcelorMittal South Africa plans to produce Chromadek products that does not contain chrome. This will be seen as a green product. The current Chromadek products does not contain chrome in the primer or the top coat. For more info on Chromadek and Chromadek Ultim visit us on: www.chromadek.com 20
ArcelorMittal is a member of SAMCRA Affiliation within SAMCRA (Southern African Metal Cladding and Roofing Association) carries a two-fold benefit as the association will ensure that high standards in quality and workmanship is maintained. While this is supportive of the products supplied into this industry by ArcelorMittal it most importantly ensures the brand integrity of Chromadek 21
