2 All the production areas are equipped with cutting-edge plant and machinery, starting with the steel mill, which has an electric-arc furnace (EAF), backed up by a fully automatic alloy loading system and an AOD converter.
Plant: The State Of The Art. VAR equipment installed in a purposebuilt shed provides re-melted steels, which flank the range of items produced using the traditional casting method. 3 Latest-generation software systems allow efficient order processing and plant and machinery monitoring, giving total reproducibility of all production processes.
5 The forging area is equipped with hydraulic presses and an automatic forging machine, as well as powerful mobile and integrated manipulators. The numerous existing forging and heattreatment furnaces are now flanked by a series of new ones, all featuring dedicated software for full remote control. The company has invested heavily in recent years in all production areas, adding a new machine for peeling bars up to 18" in diameter, complementing the existing fleet of lathes and peelers, and a new bay for non-destructive tests with a semiautomatic machine for conducting ultrasonic and eddy current tests on bars up to 16 in diameter.
The recent reorganisation of the various production areas, a new despatch department and eight new high-capacity cranes have improved in-house logistics and streamlined the entire production process. 7 Italfond s permanent emphasis on technological innovation and ongoing investments has enabled it to achieve an exceptionally high standard of quality and increased productivity, which is why the company is renowned all over the world as one of the leading suppliers of stainless steel and super alloys.

Our Products. Italfond specializes in the production of round and square forged bars up to 40 in diameter and ingots weighing up to 25 tonnes made of stainless steel and super alloys, especially nickel alloys. The superior quality level we have achieved in both our standard and custom products is the result of cuttingedge technology and a highly skilled and dedicated production team. 14 The entire production cycle, from the procurement of raw materials to the despatch of the end product, is monitored at all times and each stage undergoes rigorous quality control to verify compliance with the most restrictive specifications. As well as standard products, Italfond makes steels with special chemical compositions and good structural properties and resistance, for use in highly-selective environments.
