COMPLIES WITH EN 71-3 CLASSIFICATION FAST METHOD - NATURAL FINISH! Kiilto Parquet Oil PRODUCT GUIDE Kiilto Parquet Oil is a vegetable oil mixture for surface treatment and impregnation of parquets and wooden floors.
SURFACE PREPARATION/SANDING Sand the floor normally, sand also edges and corners properly. Fill the gaps before the final sanding (this is very important in case the floor will be lacquered). Ensure that the floor is thoroughly sanded and free of sanding dust before applying oil. APPLICATION METHODS STEEL TROWEL APPLICATION 1 Stir the oil well before use. Pour such amount of oil on the floor that you can treat within the working time. Spread oil in an even, thin coat with a stainless steel trowel, or rigid rubber trowel. Small areas, approx. 20 m 2 can be oiled in one go, larger areas in several, smaller areas.
2 Smooth the fresh oil layer out with a floor maintenance machine using a red pad or similar. If the floor is treated in smaller areas, see that amount of oil is the same everywhere. 3 After smoothing out, drive the floor with a floor maintenance machine using a terry towel or similar. Let the floor dry for 15-30 minutes (depending on circumstances) before re-treatment. 4 Repeat the treatment according to the instructions. Avoid using too much oil. Too thick, accumulated oil can be smoothed out /removed with a floor maintenance machine by using a black pad. If the floor won t be treated further, the floor can be polished with a floor maintenance machine using a white pad. The floor allows light traffic after 24 h and reaches final hardness in 2-3 days.
ALTERNATIVE APPLICATION METHODS Kiilto Parquet Oil can be applied with two alternative ways that are slightly different from the way described before: you can apply two coats with a steel trowel without intersanding between coats, or apply oil with a roller. STEEL TROWEL APPLICATION, ALTERNATIVE 2 1. 1 1 coat with a steel trowel 2. 2 1 coat with a steel trowel (wet on wet) 3. 3 Leave to dry for 5 15 minutes 4. 4 Red pad 5. 5 Towel 6. 6 Smooth out with a white pad, if necessary ROLLER APPLICATION 1. 1 1 coat with a roller (short-haired mohair roller) 2. 2 Leave to dry for 30 60 minutes 3. 3 Red pad and a towel or just the towel 4. 4 Smooth out with a white pad, if necessary MAINTENANCE OF WOODEN FLOORS WITH KIILTO CARE OIL 1 2 3 4 Clean the floor surface properly with Kiilto Parquet Cleaner Easy or Parquet Cleaner Pro. Apply a thin coat of Kiilto Care Oil maintenance oil with a trowel or floor maintenance machine with a red pad. Smooth the surface out with a floor maintenance machine using either a red or white pad. Remove excess oil with a floor maintenance machine by using a terry towel or similar. Note! Kiilto Parquet Care Oil can be used as such (natural) or toned with Kiilto Parquet Oil.
LACQUERING OILED WOODEN FLOOR Wait for at least 6 hours, but preferably as long as 24 hours, before applying lacquer on a newly oiled floor. The oiled surface must be totally dry and clean before applying lacquer. With porous wood types, such as pine, we recommend two oil coats under lacquer. With harder wood types, such as oak, one oil layer is enough. All Kiilto s top lacquers are suitable for treating oiled wooden floors. Note that the lacquer can deepen/darken the actual colour of the floor, depending on the oil used, wood type and the gloss of the lacquer. Apply 1-2 coats of lacquer (e.g. Topaz or Opal) with a roller. When using a flotex tool (with Aku De Luxe or Kalle Pro) we recommend two lacquer coats. With porous wood types the first coat can be applied by using a stainless steel trowel to avoid rough surface. If needed, intersand between coats by using sanding net e.g. 150. Lacquered floor allows light traffic after 24 hours and reaches its final hardness in a week depending on prevailing conditions and the amount of lacquer applied.
