MEGASTAR BUNKERING EXPERIENCES Sergei Jefimov Klaipeda 15.11.2017

CONTENTS 1. Eesti Gaas in brief 2. Why LNG? 3. Bunkering of Megastar 4. LNG supply chain 5. LNG quality 6. Conclusion

EESTI GAAS IN BRIEF 1. The oldest estonian energy company, roots in 1948. 2. Sale of natural gas, electricity, CNG (8 stations) and LNG. 3. Owner of the largest gas distribution network in Estonia (1 500 km). 4. Two subsidiary companies: - Gaasivõrgud (gas distribution service), - EG Ehitus (construction and renovation of gas-, heat-, and water distribution networks). 5. Revenue of EUR 116 million in 2016. 6. 217 employees (10.11.2017).

INFORTAR bought out the Eesti Gaas from Fortum, Gazprom and Itera in April 2016.

WHY LNG?

WHAT IS LNG? LNG - liquefied natural gas LNG consists of up to 98% of methane, which has been cooled down to the liquefying temperature of -162 C (and ambient pressure). The volume of natural gas is reduced during liquefaction by approximately 600 times. LNG is used in maritime and road transport, as well as energy production LNG is used either as is (in transport) or it is regasified prior to injection into the gas distribution network.

WHY LNG? According to the protocol of IMO with MARPOL and EU Directive 1999/32/EC, EU Member States have to ensure that ships in the Baltic, the North Sea and the English Channel are using fuels with a sulphur content of no more than 0.10% starting from 2015 (SECA) This regulation creates gradually significant market for LNG as marine fuel.

LNG KEEPS ON GROWING IN MARITIME INDUSTRY

BUNKERING OF MEGASTAR

MEGASTAR - THE NEWEST LNG FERRY Built in: Meyer Turku Shipyard Gross tonnage: 49 000 Length: 212 meters Capacity: 2800 passengers, 800 cars Engine: Dual fuel (LNG/MGO) Service speed: 27 knots The vessel cost is app. EUR 230 million Production of the vessel started on 4th of August 2015. In operation since 30th of January 2017 LNG powered fast ferry for the Tallinn - Helsinki shuttle service

LOCATION OF MEGASTAR BUNKERING Estonia, Port of Tallinn, Quay No 5

HIGHEST BUNKERING SAFETY STANDARDS Preparation HAZID, HAZOP and QRA All applicable standards are met (ISO 20519:2017) Technical safety: Trailer tanks with highest level of insulation Duplicated protection from overpressure Emergency Shut-Down (ESD) protection Break-Away-Couplings (BAC) protection Dry Crygenic Couplings (DCC)

HIGHEST BUNKERING SAFETY STANDARDS Operational Safety: Safety zones are evaluated according to risk assessment 0-emission operations only DCC are used Full set of PPE is worn by every driver-operator Bunkering school - multistage training and examination of bunkering driver-operators

LNG TRAINING PROGRAMM THEORY I LNG-TRAINING Emergency response THEORY II THEORY III EXAME ASSISTED BUNKERING TRAINING UNTILL COMFORT LEVEL REACHED Training certificate Signed logbook Trained Bunkering Operator Sergei Danilov Issue date: 10.02.2017 Approved by: Valid date: 10.02.2018 Sergei Jefimov

SECURITY AND SAFETY ZONES Safety zone area around the bunkering station where only dedicated and essential personnel and activities are allowed during bunkering Security zone area around the bunkering station and ship where ship traffic and ohter activities are monitored (and controlled) to mitigate harmful effects.

LNG SUPPLY CHAIN

SOURCES OF LNG There are several LNG importexport terminals/production in the region and on the coast of Baltic Sea. Paldiski Porvoo Muuga Hamina in operation Skulte planned

LNG SUPPLIES Eesti Gaas supplies LNG mainly from the Pskov liquefaction plant (2x350 km, 24-36h) Some supplies has made from Pori (Finland) and Świnoujście (Poland) terminals

LNG SEMI-TRAILERS FLEET Eesti Gaas has 8 modern semi-trailers from GOFA in order to transport and bunker LNG The semi-trailers have powerful Cryostar 1000 l/min cryogenic pumps

TRUCK-TO-SHIP (TTS) BUNKERING Truck-to-ship bunkering - typical arrangement of LNG fuelled ship with type C tank

TTS BUNKERING Flexibility Available everywhere (in all harbours) Flexible to logistics solution Flexible to operate Limited Volumes - not more than 200 m3 per bunkering Flow rates 60-120 m3/h Used at a distance from the source of LNG to 500-600 km Inexpensive Relatively small investments (CAPEX) Competitive logistic price

MAIN STEPS OF TTS BUNKERING 1. Pre-bunkering actions 2. Bunkering procedure 3. Post-bunkering actions

1. PRE-BUNKERING ACTIONS Parking of semi-trailers Marking the safety zone with cones Connecting ESD and earthing cables Blocking the trucks wheels Covering the opened hatches Electricity is turned off in the safety zone

1. PRE-BUNKERING ACTIONS Filling the check-list Connecting and inerting/purging the hoses Pressure and leak test of the whole system Cooling down of pump Increase the pressure in the semi-trailer

2. BUNKERING PROCEDURE Duration of bunkering 4 times a week between 2-6 a.m. 3-4 trucks per night

3. POST-BUNKERING ACTIONS Purging the hoses and system with nitrogen Disconnecting hoses Repeal the safety zone Departure of trailers Final filling of check-list, CMR and custom doc. All operations before, during and after bunker activities will be carried out in accordance with the check-list.

DCC CONNECTIONS ONE STANDARD Easy to handle Push and turn free flow Turn and pull closed. Safe The valve cannot be opened until the unit is coupled and closes automatically when disconnecting. Environmentally friendly Accidental spillage eliminated Reliability No loss or spillage of liquids at connection and disconnection

SAFETY PPE The personnel wear special work clothes and portable gas detectors

LNG QUALITY

LNG QUALITY FOR BUNKERING Тemperature Pressure Propane Nitrogen Carbon dioxide (СО2) Ethane Methane Methane number -155 o C 1.5 bar 1.5% Mol 0.8% Mol 0.006% Mol 7.0% Mol 90% Mol 80 The provider undertakes, warrants and quarantees that each shipment of LNG meets the following parameters at the point of delivery. Density 420 kg/m3 Oil content, heavy hydrocarbon condensate Not allowed

RISK OF DELIVERING OFF SPEC LNG A key issue in LNG transportation is the generation of Boil-Off Gas (BOG). The boil-off of the volatile components in the LNG stored leads to a change in composition of LNG.

BUNKERING PIONEERING Film Bunkering Pioneering 500.mp4 More than 500 bunkering operations sucessfully done by 30.01.2017!

CONCLUSION 1. EG has got unic experience to do TTS LNG bunkering. 2. EG is ready to offer TTS bunkering to other harbours in the region. A lot of LNG ships are coming a lot of opportunities for all!
