Crystalline Waterproofing: A manufacturer s proprietary one component, clear colored (potassium, potassium/lithium, and lithium) based sealer in a water carrier, when applied, penetrates by capillary action into concrete or masonry and reacts chemically with free lime in the presence of water to develop crystalline growth within concrete or masonry capillaries to produce an impervious, dense, waterproof concrete or masonry. 1. Color: Clear 2. VOC Content: None B. Water Repellant: A manufacturer s proprietary blend of one component, VOC compliant, water-based penetrating modified silane/siloxane, when applied, penetrates by capillary action into concrete and masonry pores and capillaries forming a seal that repels water, but allows water vapor permeability. 1. Color: White dries clear without changing color of substrate. 2. VOC Content: Less than 37 g/l C. Stain Repellant: A manufacturer s proprietary blend of one component, VOC compliant, waterbased penetrating fluorsilane/siloxane, when applied, penetrates by capillary action into concrete and masonry pores and capillaries forming a seal that repels water, oil and graffiti, but allows water vapor permeability. 1. Color: Clear/yellow, dries clear 2. VOC Content: Less than 50 g/l D. Cleaners: A manufacturer s proprietary water base, low VOC compliant, dilutable detergent that penetrates the concrete substrate to purge contaminants from the concrete s capillary system. Manufacturer s cleaner to be used as part of waterproofing system to assure unit responsibility. CRYSTALLINE WATERPROOFING 07162-3
E. Activators: A manufacturer s proprietary water base, colorless, non-toxic, low viscosity, nonflammable liquid formulation to increase alkali in masonry and concrete substrates. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Acceptance of Conditions: Examine substrates, with Applicator present, where waterproofing is to be applied. 1. Proceed with application only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 2. Provide temporary enclosure to confine spraying operation and to ensure adequate ambient temperatures and ventilation conditions for application. B. Stop active water leaks according to waterproofing manufacturer's written instructions. C. Repair damaged or unsatisfactory concrete or masonry according to manufacturer's written instructions. D. Surface Preparation: Surface must be free of any form of membrane Comply with waterproofing manufacturer's written instructions to remove efflorescence, chalk, dust, dirt, existing coatings, mortar spatter, grease, oils, curing compounds, and form-release agents to ensure that waterproofing penetrates concrete or masonry surfaces. E. Concrete Joints: Clean reveals according to waterproofing manufacturer's written instructions. F. ph level: Test ph content of concrete or masonry surface; ph level must be 9 or higher. If less than 9, an activator to increase ph must be used. 3.3 APPLICATION A. General: Comply with waterproofing manufacturer's written instructions for application. 1. Apply Foxfire (P-1007, PL-1007, or L-1007) to visually dry surface. 2. Apply waterproofing to [positive] [negative]-side surfaces. 3. Number of applications: [Two] [Three] for [brush] [roller] [spray] application. 4. Do not dampen surface between coats. After final application, wait 20-40 minutes and apply two mist applications of potable water 15 minutes apart to concrete surface. 5. Apply Foxfire (5000WB, Stain Repellant) to dry surface, minimum 24 hours after application of sealer. CRYSTALLINE WATERPROOFING 07162-4
6. Note: if ph level is below 9, Foxfire Catalyst should be applied in a single application at a rate of 200 sqft per gallon, a minimum of one hour prior to the application of the ( P- 1007, PL-1007, or L-1007) B. Existing Concrete and Masonry: 1. Vertical Surfaces: a. Apply from top to bottom to point of refusal using a low pressure sprayer (40 psi) with a fan-type tip. b. After first application has soaked in, normally 20-40 minutes, apply second application. d. After final application of Foxfire (P-1007, PL-1007, or L-1007) is installed, and absorbed, wait approximately 20-40 minutes and then apply two light coats of potable water to remove surface contaminants, waiting approximately 15-20 minutes between applications. 2. Horizontal Surfaces: a. Apply an application of Foxfire (P-1007, PL-1007, or L-1007) to the point of refusal using either a low pressure sprayer (40 psi) with a fan-type tip or roller with an 11/4 nap. Brush or squeegee excess Foxfire P-1007 to untreated areas b. After first application has soaked in, wait approximately 20-40 minutes prior to application of second application. d.
