8 August 2012 Industrial Production Index (IPI). Base 2005 June 2012. Provisional data Main results The interannual variation of the Industrial Production Index for the month of June is 6.9%, more than one point lower than that registered in May. By economic destination of the goods, all sectors, except Energy, present negative interannual rates. The average rate of the IPI stands at 6.3% in the first semester of the year. Fifteen Autonomous Communities register negative interannual rates for the IPI in the month of June. evolution of industrial production The Industrial Production Index (IPI) experienced an interannual variation of 6.9% in June, more than one point lower than that registered in May. The industrial sectors that most influenced this interannual decrease in industrial production were: Intermediate goods, with an annual rate of 8.1% and an effect of 2.826 on the general index, due to the generalized decreases in production in the activities comprising this sector, being the most important, by its influence, the observed in the Extracting stone, sand and clay and Manufacture of rubber and plastic products. Nonetheless, worth noting the increases in Manufacture of other chemical products and Manufacture of cutlery and silverware, tools and hardware. Capital goods, with an annual variation of 13.4% and an effect of 2.785 on the general index, motivated by the drops in production in the majority of the activities comprising this sector, highlighting the Manufacture of metal elements for construction and Manufacture of motor vehicles. Among the rises, worth noting was Manufacture of other machinery for specific uses. IPI - JUNE 2012 (1/8)

Non-durable consumer goods, with an annual variation of 2.5% and an effect of 0.698 on the general index. More than half of the activities of this sector registered a decrease in production, among them highlighting the Graphic arts and related services. Among the increases, worth noting was the Manufacture of pharmaceutical specialities. A more detailed analysis showed the activities that most affected the annual rate of the IPI in the month of June.
