The University of Jordan Faculty: Pharmacy Department: Pharmaceutics & Pharmaceutical technology Program: Pharmacy & Pharm D Academic Year/ Semester: 2013/2014 Pharmaceutical Microbiology II (Course Number: 1202442) Credit hours 2 Level 4 th yr Prerequisite Pharmaceutical microbiology I Coordinator/ Lecturer Course website Office number E-mail Office phone Place Office hours Day/Time Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Course Description In this course the students will apply some of the knowledge they gained in pharmaceutical microbiology I & pharmaceutical microbiology II. The students will perform tests used to monitor the environment (air, personnel, water) & test sterile products. Also the students will perform microbial identification through gram staining. The students will perform various in vitro tests for evaluating antimicrobial agents & will perform some microbial quality tests for non sterile products. Learning Objectives By the end of this practical sessions the student will develop the skills of identifying microorganisms, measuring the efficacy and potency of different antimicrobial agents, using different sterilization methods and designing optimum sterilisation cycles and monitoring microbiological quality for both sterile and non sterile dosage forms. Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs): Successful completion of the course should lead to the following outcomes: Page 1
