Installation of Vacuklav -B The new Europe-autoclave Vacuklav -B uses fractionated pre-vacuum (air removal by sub atmospheric pulsing before sterilization). A high vacuum is achieved using a water-ring pump, which is both very efficient and extremely robust in continual operation. These instructions contain important information about the installation of the Vacuklav -B. Please read them carefully. Installation requirements Installation of Vacuklav -B Before setting up the Vacuklav -B you should make sure that the following requirements are met: Space requirements In order to ensure adequate ventilation, there should be at least cm clearance to the sides and above the autoclave (for dimensions see Figure ), with cm clearance at the rear for connections. Sufficient room must also be available either for the MELAG reservoir container for distilled or demineralised water (0 cm x cm x cm), for a MELAdem or MELAdem 0 water demineraliser, or e.g. for the original container provided by a supplier.. Horizontal surface: A plane, horizontal surface is required which is sufficiently stable to support the autoclave (unloaded weight kg).. Power supply The power supply should be 0 V, 0 Hz, and 00 VA, with a A fuse protection, optionally with a 0 ma circuit breaker. The power cable supplied is. m long. If the MELAprint printer is also used, then an additional power socket will be required.. Water supply Connecting the Vacuklav -B autoclave to the water supply is much the same as fitting up a domestic washing machine. Care should be taken to ensure that the installation is in accordance with the relevant standards on drinking water supply systems (e.g. EN ). Whereas in domestic settings there are few problems, the threat of water contamination in doctors' or dentists' surgeries is considerable, and requirements should be adhered to strictly. [Part of EN on the protection of the drinking water supply system specifies a safety combination of nonreturn valve and pipe air-release valve ).] Many buildings already have such fittings. Additional it is practical to use a tap with integrated non-return valve and pipe air-release valve. You should ensure that the Vacuklav -B meets industrial standards, we recommend one of the following options as shown in Figure : Option I : Option II : The installation of a water tap with integrated security combination (MELAG Art. No.: 0) on an available or newly installed water pipe (rated width DN, /") The installation of an additional stop cock with integrated security combination (MELAG Art. No.: 0) directly at a corner valve of an existing water supply (e.g. for a sink or wash basin) with 0 mm pipe For a flow rate of litre/min the flow pressure should be >. bar. The cooling water pipe supplied with the Vacuklav -B is metres long. You should consider installing a leak detector with water-stop valve (Figure -Figure MELAG Art.-No.: 00). ) The combination of non-return and pipe-air release valves is sufficient for the general use of the autoclave (sterilisation of noninfectious material, prior disinfection). For the use of the autoclave as a "waste steriliser" for the sterilisation of microbiologically contaminated materials, EN requires a funnel between the drinking water supply and the cooling water inlet. Cooling water outlet An outlet is required for the cooling water - either a wastewater outlet in the wall (rating DN 0) or a connection to an existing trap (e.g. under a sink). Examples for the connections are shown on pages and. In order to reduce noise caused by outflowing water, MELAG supplies a special quiet double-chamber trap which can replace the existing one. MELAG also supplies a metre pipe to connect the autoclave to the wastewater outlet, which should be at least 0 cm lower than the Vacuklav. The connecting pipe should be free of twists and kinks, and have a constant gradient, without any points where water can collect. The supply with feed water (distilled or demineralised) If an autoclave has a closed-loop water system, impurities in the water regularly lead to damage. Therefore, the Vacuklav -B has a one-way system. It either draws on water from a reservoir (which staff refill at regular intervals, e.g. with distilled water from the MELAdest ), or, even easier, it draws water directly from the ME- LAdem or MELAdem 0 water demineraliser. The feed-water (for steam production) must at least comply with the requirements for purified water in accordance with VDE Code of Practice 00.. Indirect supply (see page, Figure ) The Vacuklav -B draws distilled or demineralised water as required from a MELAG container (or other container) along a m pipe. The container should not be more than. m below the autoclave. Of course, it can also be placed alongside the Vacuklav -B.. Direct supply (see page, Figure ) Connection of the ion exchanger MELAdem 0 with spray gun MELAjet The simplest option is when the MELAdem 0 is connected directly to the feed water inlet of the Vacuklav -B. The MELAjet is used to clean off instruments with purified water before sterilisation.. Direct supply (see page, Figure ) Connection of reverse osmosis system MELAdem. The MELAdem reverse osmosis demineraliser can be connected directly to the feed-water inlet of the Vacuklav. Before using other water-treatment systems, you should consult with your MELAG-dealer to ensure that the water quality is adequate. Page of
