Uniform Sign Plan (USP) Carpenter Village PUD 02-USP-999 These guidelines are published for informational purposes. A sign permit application must be submitted and a permit issued prior to installation of a sign. USP identifier: Location: 02-USP-999 Both sides of Morrisville Carpenter Road, west of Davis Drive. (Includes Gathering Park Circle) Date USP established: Last modified: July 20, 2004 September 29, 2008 Reviewed 1/9/2009 but no new colors added General Provisions of Uniform Sign Plan for this project All signs must include signature of representative of Architectural Review Committee when submitted for permit. USP amended 2008 to allow black & white as wall sign color options in Village Core and to allow individual letters on sign band on building. A sign may be erected, placed, established, painted, created or maintained in the Town of Cary only in conformance with standards, procedures, exemptions and other requirements of the Town's Sign Ordinance and/or any applicable Uniform Sign Plan (USP) for the property where the sign is located. In situations where the specifications of a previously approved Uniform Sign Plan conflict with the currently adopted Sign Ordinance provisions, then the specifications in the approved Uniform Sign Plan shall control. Where a previously approved Uniform Sign Plan does not contain specifications on signage attributes, including but not limited to height, colors, placement, etc., then the provisions in the currently adopted Sign Ordinance shall control. Further, a previously approved Uniform Sign Plan which lacks specific signage attribute specifications (including but not limited to height, colors, placement, etc.) may not be amended to include such specifications unless such amendment is in accord with the currently adopted Sign Ordinance. A Uniform Sign Plan may be amended by filing a new sign plan with the Planning Department. Any new or amended Uniform Sign Plan (including those for planned unit developments) shall include a schedule for bringing into conformance, within 90 days, all signs not conforming to the proposed plan. This shall apply to all properties governed by said plan. Ground Signs - Project Identification Primary Entrance monuments Quantity: Up to four primary major entrance monuments, as approved through the Site Plan approval process. A secondary major entrance monument is also planned. Location: The primary major entrance monuments shall be located along thoroughfares abutting the property, namely Morrisville- Carpenter Road and Morrisville Parkway, on each side of the primary entrance road. The secondary major entrance monument shall be located at the north end of the Village Green. 02usp999 (Carpenter Village) Page 1 of 9

Ground Signs - Project Identification Primary Entrance monuments Materials: Brick wall shall be of 2 ¾ x 3 ½ oversize Diamond White by Price Hall brick, except as noted for column caps. Plaques and caps shall be of cast foam core or concrete with a smooth, stone like texture. Carpenter Village letters shall be made of metal or PVC or other similar material approved by the Carpenter Village Architectural Review Committee. Size: Plaque to be 2 1 5/8 x 1 1 ¾. Carpenter Village letters shall not exceed 32 square feet. Colors: Plaques shall be Acrocrete White. Carpenter Village letters shall be black. Illumination: Externally illuminated. Ground Signs - Site/Parcel/Subdivision Identification - Nonresidential Quantity: One per commercial center, with a second allowed along a street frontage of at least 150 feet containing a customer entrance. A total of no more than two (2) principal ground signs permitted. Location: Out of right-of-way and sight triangle. Materials: Brick, metal, sandstone, cast stone or a combination as approved by Carpenter Village ARC. All principal ground signs must be identical in material to each other. Ground Signs - Site/Parcel/Subdivision Identification - Nonresidential Colors: Background and sign elements such as brick piers shall be painted Floral White to match DURON color #CW033W. Accent colors shall be black and burgundy, equivalent to PMS color #208. Carpenter Village logo may be centered at the top of each sign face. Illumination: Externally illuminated. Sign copy shall be approved by Carpenter Village ARC. Leasing information may be part of the ground signs, but does not have to be repeated on all ground signs. Ground Signs - Site/Parcel/Subdivision Identification - Single Family Residential Quantity: One per vehicular access point as approved through Site Plan approval process. Location: One on each side of the entrance, out of both the right-of-way and the sight triangle. Materials: Sign is incorporated into a column that is approved through the Site Plan approval process. The column is brick with a concrete or cast stone cap. The sign itself is a plaque of ¾ plywood or other material as approved by Carpenter Village ARC. Size: Not more than 2.5 square feet, typically 2 2 x 1 2, located 2 8 above grade. Colors: Background is Floral White to match Duron color #CW033W. Accent colors shall be black and burgundy, equivalent to PMS color #208. The Carpenter Village logo may be centered at the top of each sign face. Location: At both sides of main entry. Materials: Sign is treated wood, or high density urethane board, incorporated into a brick wall. Size: Wall is 6 11 tall and 9 4 in width along Commons Walk Circle. It continues into the multi-family development at 27 tall with 50 tall columns. The sign panel itself is 54 wide and 24 tall. Detailed directory - As needed for customer travel through commercial area. Location: As needed for customer travel through commercial area. Materials: Treated wood, high density urethane board, metal, stone, cast stone, or brick. All shall be identical in material. Size: Logo/name directory, 16 square feet in area, 42 inches in height. Detailed directory, 8 square feet in area, 5 feet in height. Colors: Background and posts Floral White to match Duron color #CW033W Text black Accent black or burgundy, equivalent to PMS 208. Illumination: Externally illuminated No other ground sign was found during site visit July 12, 2004 Wall Signs - Tenant Type 1 - Buildings with individual customer entrances for each tenant, such as a building containing retail/restaurant/personal service uses. 02usp999 (Carpenter Village) Page 5 of 9

Wall Signs - Tenant Type 1 - Buildings with individual customer entrances for each tenant, such as a building containing retail/restaurant/personal service uses. Quantity: One per tenant with individual exterior customer entrance. If tenant has window or door on second wall, a second sign is permitted. Location: On individual tenant space. Materials: ¾ inch plywood, high density urethane board, or other materials approved by ARC. ¾ inch raised, flat band border surrounding outermost perimeter of sign. A second option is individual PVC routed, high quality plastic, treated wood or other similar ARC approved material mounted to sign panel. The ARC shall approve the sign shape and form. Size: One square foot of sign per linear foot of building frontage along main customer entrance. If tenant is eligible for second wall sign, square footage is split between two signs. Colors: Signs are limited to one background color and no more than two additional colors. Colors are to be selected from the approved colors in the Market Place Design Guidelines or black and white. Illumination: External Illumination Wall Signs - Other Tenant Type(s) Buildings with shared entrances, such as office buildings without individual exterior tenant entrances, or buildings with only one tenant, such as a freestanding restaurant. Materials: ¾ plywood, high density urethane board, or other similar materials approved by the Carpenter Village ARC. Each sign shall have a ¾ raised, flat-band border surrounding the outermost perimeter of the sign. A second option is individual PVC routed, high quality plastic, treated wood or other similar ARC approved material mounted to sign panel. The ARC shall approve the sign shape and form. Size: One square foot of sign per linear foot of building frontage along the main customer entrance. That square footage may be divided into two signs. Colors: Signs are limited to one background color and no more than two additional colors. Colors are to be selected from the approved colors in the Market Place Design Guidelines and may include black or white. Illumination: Not to be illuminated from within. No wall sign was found during site visit July 12, 2004 Wall Signs - Other Awning Signs, nonresidential Quantity: One per tenant in place of all wall signs for that tenant. Location: As approved in the Site Plan approval process. Materials: Awning material as approved in Site Plan approval process. Sign material to be lettering attached to awning. Size: No greater than 10% of the area of the awning. Colors: Any color approved as part of the Village Market Place Design Guidelines. Bottom of sign must be at least 8 above sidewalk. Materials: Redwood or high-density urethane board. Generally rectangular in shape, with ¾ raised, flat-band border surrounding the outermost perimeter of the sign Size: No more than 2 square feet in area, double sided. Colors: One background color and two other colors, as selected from the approved colors in the Village Market Place Design Guidelines. Signs shall be compatible with the building colors, but do not need to match each other.
