Community Food Producer or Gleaner Packet Assembly Bill 1990 Gordon, commonly known as the Community Food Producer law came into effect January 1, 2015. The new law authorizes a Community Food Producer or a Gleaner to sell uncut fruits or vegetables and up to 15 dozen unrefrigerated eggs per month if specific requirements are met. The uncut fruit, vegetables, and eggs may be directly sold to the public, to a permitted restaurant or to a Cottage Food Operator. Do I register as a Community Food Producer or Gleaner? Submit a registration packet for a Community Food Producer if you produce agricultural products on land that is not zoned for agricultural use but is otherwise in compliance with applicable local land use and zoning restrictions including, but not limited to, restrictions governing personal gardens, community gardens, and culinary gardens. Submit a registration packet as a Gleaner if you legally gather remnants of an agricultural crop of harvest part of, or all of, an agricultural crop made available by the owner of the agricultural crop. All produce will be provided whole and uncut, and eggs will be unrefrigerated. 2. All produce will be provided only directly to my customers, to a restaurant, or to a Cottage Food Operation. 3. All of my products will be labeled with the name, address, and phone number of the Community Food Producer/Gleaner. If a label is not available, a conspicuous sign will be provided with name, address, and phone number of the Community Food Producer/Gleaner. 4. I have read and will follow the applicable sections of Best Management Practices from the California Department of Food and Agriculture small farm food safety. (see attachment) 5. EGG PRODUCERS -I have attached proof of registration with California Department of Food and Agriculture s Egg Safety and Quality Management Program and will produce no more than 15 dozen eggs per month. I understand that a representative of the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Environmental Health may enter and inspect my operation(s) in response to a recall or complaint and that I may assessed additional fees for investigations. 7. GLEANERS I am authorized to enter into this agreement on behalf of the owner/operator who is aware of and agrees to follow the Community Food Producer requirements 9.
