Business Services 6.0 The Business Development Model for Maximized Employer and Community Partner Engagement

Session Objectives Discuss the purpose for developing the BDL Model Present the strategies used and benefits gained by WSNCT Highlight the importance of partnerships with Employers, Community Colleges, and Economic Development Entities

Strategy: Implementing the BDL Model Align with the WIOA Employment and Training Activities expectation More effectively integrate employers in our service area into the workforce system Maximize engagement with Targeted Industry Employers Increasing collaboration with Community Colleges and Economic Development Entities

Stakeholder Collaboration and Support Business Services Redesign was approved by the workforce board members Contractor was involved in the conversation for redesigning the business services processes MOUs were developed and signed by our community college partners for office space

Divide and Conquer: Board and Contractor Staff Collaboration BDL Team: Targeted Industry employer focus; outreaching to expand the use of workforce services Contractor Staff: Non-Targeted Industry employer focus; handles workforce services requests shared by the BDL Presented as a team to employers (One Voice)

Toyota (Plano, TX) Partnered with Collin College to coordinate and administer candidate pre-assessments Hiring events that have resulted from approximately 900 hires Job postings in Work in Texas Major employer partner for Red White and You

Farmer Brothers (Northlake, TX) One-on-One with the HR team to assist with hiring and placement This relationship developed more than 168 job postings in the initial hiring phase, 10 focused hiring events, and continued use of workforce services Over 4,400 contacts were made from the job postings Employer was open to using WSNCT s specialized LinkedIn recruitment strategies developed by a BDL team member Sector Strategy Partner

Collin County Workforce Forum Partnership with Collin College and endorsed by Collin County Judge Keith Self Event held at the Collin College Preston Ridge campus Local Employers attended Focus: Workforce Development and Forecasting TWC LMI Presentation was delivered that covered the current and projected state of the workforce in Collin County Presentation from Collin College

Wise County Hiring Event Partnership with Weatherford College, Decatur EDC, and Bridgeport EDC Developed in response to the Oil and Gas layoffs 1 st Event Details: 30 employers participated Over 200 Job Seekers attended Occurs every April and is held at Weatherford College in Decatur

iwork Youth Career Exploration Event- Navarro College Held during the Careers in Texas Week in September 2017 26 Employers and Community Partners exhibited Surrounding ISDs were invited to explore different career options within WSNCT s Targeted Industry sectors Supplemental sessions: Social Media, Self-Promotion and Presentation, and Career Pathways Participants were given Employability Kits

Benefit: Increased Engagement in SDF and SSB Activity SDF Incentive Dollars Earned to Date: $85,000 Active SDF Contracts: over $4.3 million Warm handoffs build relationship continuity BDLs have close collaboration with SBDCs on college campuses, which expands the outreach of the SSB Program

Benefit: Collaborative Efforts with Economic Development Entities Participation in EDC HR Roundtables Increased opportunities for Workforce Services presentations Community Hiring Events Participation in Prospect Meetings

Rapid Response and Business Services Integration BDL team is integrated into the process Provide local wisdom and specific contacts to Rapid Response staff Targeted outreach to employers for affected worker placements

Sector Strategy Development Focus on WSNCT s 9 Targeted Industries Convening employers, educational entities, and regional stakeholders to focus on needs within the industry Sector development partnership includes WSNCT, economic development entities, independent school districts, and community colleges

Sector Work: Digital Technology Emerging industry in North Texas April 2017: WSNCT hosted a design-thinking charrette in partnership with Collin College o20 employers present ofocused on in-demand industry credentials, current industry challenges, and future industry needs

CRM- Customization and Collaboration Customized CRM to follow the process of Business Services Account Summary Needs Assessment BDU Services Details Notes

CRM- Streamlining Communication CRM is designed to assign tasks to the workforce center for uninterrupted service delivery Service Delivery plans and deadlines are documented in the system Notes in each account allow for communication with employers and other partners to be easily followed Dates for follow-up can be set for future contacts
