SECTION 06401 FIBER-CEMENT BOARD (Vented Soffit) PART 1 GENERAL 1.1 SUMMARY A. Provide exterior architectural woodwork: 1. Standing and running trim. Trim joints in ceiling with ½ x 1 Hardiplank. 2. Miscellaneous trim as indicated on drawings. 1.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Comply with governing codes and regulations. Provide products of acceptable manufacturers, which have been in satisfactory use in similar service for three years. Use experienced installers. Deliver, handle, and store materials in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. B. Standards: Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) "Architectural Woodwork Quality Standards." 1.3 PRODUCT HANDLING A. Stack Hardiplank claddings on edge or lay flat on a smooth, level surface. Protect edges and corners from chipping. Store sheets under cover and keep dry prior to installing. 1.4 JOB CONDITIONS A. Nominal 2 inch x 6 inch wood framing selected for minimal shrinkage and complying with local building codes, including the use of weather-resistive barriers and/or vapor barriers where required. Minimum 1½ inch face and straight, true, of uniform dimensions and properly aligned. B. Install weather-resistive barriers and claddings to dry surfaces. C. Repair any punctures or tears in the weather-resistive barrier prior to the installation of the siding. D. Protect siding from other trades. 1.6 WARRANTY A. Soffits to meet the following building code compliance National Evaluation Report No. NER 405 (ICBO).Non-asbestos fiber-cement siding to be noncombustible when tested in accordance with ASTM test method E136. C. Type: Smooth and size as indicated on drawings. (vented) 2.2 FASTENERS A. Fasteners as required and recommended by manufacturer for application. B. Exterior Standing and Running Trim: 1. Back-prime all exterior trim materials prior to installation. 2. Prime all cut ends of exterior trim materials during installation. 3. Grade: Custom. 4. Finish: Paint 5. Color: As selected by architect. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. Provide work to sizes indicated. Install work to comply with quality standards referenced. Back prime work and install plumb, level and straight with tight joints; scribe work to fit. B. Quality Standard: Install woodwork to comply with AWI Section 1700 for the same grade specified for type of woodwork involved. C. Install materials and systems in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Install materials and systems in proper relation with adjacent construction. Use non-corrosive fasteners for exterior work. Coordinate with work of other sections. D. Comply with manufacturer's requirements for cutting, handling, fastening and working treated materials. E.
