TRAINING SERVICES rpsgroup.com/energy

INTRODUCTION RPS is the world s leading sub-surface consultancy. We help clients develop natural energy resources across the complete asset life cycle. Through a combination of our technical and commercial skills with an in-depth knowledge of training and capability development, enhanced by our acquisition of the industry leading training companies; Nautilus and PEICE, we provide our clients with comprehensive capability development and training services, either discretely or in conjunction with other technical services. The expertise within RPS is applied world-wide to a broad range of projects providing clients with independent and flexible support to help achieve their technical, commercial and development goals. CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT As an independent multidisciplinary consultancy working with the world s leading Exploration and Production companies for over thirty years we have built unrivalled knowledge and experience of industry best practice across all areas of business and have in many cases contributed to its development. We are able to bring this knowledge and experience to bear for the benefit of our clients and specifically in the area of training and staff development this allows us to advise and work with our clients against the background of our understanding of the requirements and objectives of world class organisations in this industry sector. We are able to offer services from the strategic and planning level, through the development and strengthening of specific functions or departments within a client, to the end delivery of training itself. Training and staff development are acknowledged to be enhanced by structuring these activities against the assessment and achievement of defined competency goals. Through our practical knowledge of the processes within an Exploration & Production company we work to place these activities within a management framework ensuring the development of staff is aligned to the achievement of objectives and that results are measurable and visible. Working with management within a client to align strategy with effective and targeted staff development to realise tangible results enhances the client s ability to meet its business objectives. Being able to place competency definition, assessment and staff training in the context of the underlying processes operating within our clients, from an independent perspective, provides a unique service to our clients. We are further able to build on this through technical projects that we undertake for clients where knowledge transfer expedites the development of the client staff we work with. As an independent consultancy we will always work with a client to ensure that its training and development objectives are met, whether through training and services we supply or those which we source and manage from third parties. Through our international operations we have a worldwide understanding of the many accreditations and standards which exist in the oil and gas industry around the world and are able to offer clients impartial advice on their applicability to specific situations and ensure they are aligned with the requirements of their business. Against the background of industry demographics and technological advances the development of the human capital within an organisation is one of the key challenges faced by most businesses in the oil and gas industry, we believe that having an independent partner committed to developing the capabilities within a client s organisation, at all levels, is intrinsic to long term success. rpsgroup.com/energy

SPECIFIC TRAINING SERVICES CAPABILITIES Competency Definition And Assessment We can work with clients existing competency management systems or manage the implementation of new systems, refine competency definitions, define competency schema, skills matrices and questionnaires, implement robust management procedures and provide effective reporting. We have access to a range of tools to assist in the definition of schema that fit an organisations objectives and assessors experienced in the energy sector. We ensure that assessments are objective, aim to deliver robust and sustainable solutions and focus on expediting a return on the investment made. Training Needs Analysis and Staff Development Based on analysis of staff competence and corporate objectives we can work with clients to define and deliver tailored and structured training requirements and solutions, using both our own in house training products and where required sourcing and managing the delivery of third party solutions from our partners. Human Resources To ensure the success of training initiatives undertaken for clients we endeavour to work closely with their Human Resources departments and, where appropriate, to strengthen the capabilities within the HR function to ensure the successful delivery of these initiatives. This is typically achieved by a combination of process improvements, knowledge transfer and specific training. Knowledge Transfer We have historically delivered training courses in our core technical discipline areas and as part of our knowledge transfer commitments, usually associated with the large technical studies we undertake in the areas outlined in this document. Public Courses and Programmes Our core curriculum comprises courses spanning geology, geophysics, reservoir characterisation and development, engineering and reserves estimation, oil and gas production and optimisation, commercial, leadership, management, personal development and HSE. We will deliver in excess of 280 distinct courses each year across these disciplines. Courses are run at all levels from basic awareness to skilled application, suitable for new hires and cross training through to expert professionals with many years experience. Each year we schedule over 450 courses around the world providing approximately 35,000 man days of training to participants from more than 140 companies. Courses have been successfully delivered on programmes or as individual classes in Europe, US, Canada, Libya, Algeria, Abu Dhabi, South America, Mexico, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. We pride ourselves on industry leading delivery metrics, ensuring course participants can rely on being able to access the training they require; our historic cancellation rates for publically scheduled courses are less than 1%. Participant feedback is collected on all courses we run as a mechanism for continuous improvement and courses are consistently rated as excellent to exceptional. Dedicated Courses and Programmes We are able to provide cost effective turnkey solutions for clients seeking to run either dedicated individual courses or programmes of courses, exclusively for their own staff, incorporating courses from our core curriculum. In addition we are able to work with clients own technical experts to incorporate client data and case studies into existing courses to enhance their specific relevance to an individual client or asset. Dedicated programmes

have been run for clients around the world, including in Libya, Algeria, Turkey (for Iraq), Nigeria, Guinea, India, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, US, Canada, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and throughout Europe. Managed Training Solutions Drilling & Operations Through the technical work undertaken on behalf of clients we have worked with many of the world s leading contracting companies. This has allowed us to accumulate an in depth and independent appreciation of their capabilities. We are able to utilise this knowledge and experience to provide managed training solutions in areas where clients have requirements outside our core curriculum and are therefore able to provide managed training solutions in areas such as Drilling and Operations. Field Based Training Courses Uniquely among training providers we offer a substantial number of field based training courses. These courses will often combine outcrops with classroom based study and provide a unique learning environment for those attending, allowing them to benefit not only from the knowledge of the course tutors but from interaction with their peers from other companies. As a result of our logistical expertise we are able to run courses in challenging environments and have in place comprehensive HSE policies and procedures to ensure the safe management of these courses. Each year we usually deliver in excess of 110 field based training courses in location including US, Canada, France, UK, Ireland, Spain, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, Borneo, Bahamas, Indonesia, New Zealand and Australia. Bespoke Courses and Programmes Each year we add approximately 20 courses to our core curriculum, demonstrating an unsurpassed ability to source and deliver training solutions in response to or in anticipation of industry requirements. These principles can be applied to defining, sourcing and procuring bespoke courses and programmes to be delivered to meet specific client training requirements where courses would not otherwise be available. Virtual Faculty We deliver courses using a faculty of in excess of 250 course tutors, many acknowledged as industry experts within their own fields. Course tutor backgrounds include active practitioners and consultants, academics from many of the world s leading universities and those working in industry. Course tutors are sourced both on the basis of their technical mastery and their ability to communicate effectively. To ensure that complex ideas are considered from all relevant perspectives, many of our courses are taught by more than one tutor, often combining a blend of academics and practitioners. A high proportion of our course tutors regularly contribute at industry conferences. Course Materials Training courses are delivered in conjunction with reference quality training materials, providing a lasting resource for course participants. As an independent consultancy training courses are delivered, as far as is practical, so as not to be vendor or software specific; where software is used we attempt to ensure that we are able to support multiple platforms and offer versions of courses across these environments. Blended Learning Solutions Combining many of the individual aspects of our training portfolio we are also able to offer clients blended and structured learning solutions. These might include some or all of the individual training elements structured around participants work assignments, helping them to build on and reinforce the knowledge they acquire from each of the individual elements and expediting their progress to becoming independent contributors within their organisations. Technology We are able to offer clients access to training through new and emerging technologies; e-learning solutions delivered over a corporate intranet, online assessment or video based courses addressing specific individual requirements e.g. Health & Safety. Service Delivery Location Training and related services are typically delivered at a variety of locations including client s premises, our offices and third party venues around the world. As part of the logistical arrangements for any training programmes we undertake on behalf of a client we would expect to assist in obtaining all relevant visas and other necessary permissions where required. rpsgroup.com/energy
