DAIRYLAND SEED EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE T.J. STRACHOTA, Communications Leader // TOM STRACHOTA, General Manager // KIM MAYNE, Operations Manager DEB BACKHAUS, Office Manager/IT // FRED RECKNER, Controller // GARY LEEPER, Sales Leader Dear Dairyland Friend: The first 108 years of this business are rich in history. The Five Rules of how to treat our customers have been fundamental to our success. In 2015, a few select Dairyland farmers are participating in the Enlist Corn Stewarded Introduction, planting the first acres of Dairyland corn with Enlist! We look forward to improved weed control and great yield potential with Enlist corn and soybeans. Additionally, thanks to our association with Dow AgroSciences, our sizable plant breeding team continues to bring world-class genetics to the marketplace in various trait combinations. Our increased number of plots and research stations in recent years accelerates that process. www.dairylandseed.com // 800.236.0163 At Dairyland, product evaluation goes beyond our research stations it comes to your farm, where it matters! Whether our RST, GENI and DSR Soybean strip plots, or our industry-unique HAY and HiDF plot testing networks, each is designed to identify how our genetics perform in your area. Our future success depends on following The Five Rules, plus providing state of the art products and services. In 2016 you can be confident that we will provide genetics developed by one of the world s largest companies supported by local knowledge and commitment. Sincerely, Thomas G. Strachota, General Manager Dairyland Seed FIND US ON: 4

TRAIT STEWARDSHIP REFUGE AND Bt MANAGEMENT Practicing sound Bt management and following grain marketing requirements are crucial to protecting your crop plan options, today and in the future. When planting hybrids with in-plant traits, it s important that you follow all applicable Insect Resistant Management (IRM) and grain marketing requirements. Corn Belt Separate Refuge REFUGE SIZE AND DISTANCE SmartStax Refuge Advanced POWERCORE Refuge Advanced SmartStax Refuge Icon * * * Refuge Size Requirement (Corn Belt) Refuge Distance Requirement 0% None 0% None 5% Within or adjacent POWERCORE * 5% Within, adjacent or up to ½ mile HERCULEX XTRA HERCULEX I * * 20% Within or adjacent 20% Within, adjacent or up to ½ mile equals 5 acres of non-bt corn for every 95 acres of Bt corn planted equals 20 acres of non-bt corn for every 80 acres of Bt corn planted Agrisure 3000GT and Agrisure GT/CB/LL also require a 20% or 50% (Cotton Belt) separate structured refuge. Agrisure 3122 requires a 5% or 20% (Cotton Belt) separate structured refuge. *Refuge requirements refer to the Corn Belt only. www.dairylandseed.com // 800.236.0163 24 REFUGE LOCATION AND CONFIGURATION OPTIONS The structured refuge may be planted as an in-field refuge or an adjacent (e.g., across the road) refuge. Corn borer refuge may also be planted as a separate block that is within ½ mile of the Bt field. In-field refuge options include blocks, perimeter strips (i.e., strips around the field) or in-field strips. In-field blocks or strips must be at least four consecutive rows wide. Seed mixtures of Bt and no-bt corn (other than the mixture provided as Refuge Advanced) are not permitted. When switching between Bt hybrids and the seed to be planted in the refuge, planter hoppers should be cleaned out to avoid inadvertent mixing of seed. Growers should calculate the acres required for refuge and plant the appropriate amount of refuge seed for the configuration options selected. For example, in choosing to plant in-field strips, a grower must calculate how much refuge seed is needed to meet the minimum refuge requirement and fill the refuge planter boxes with that amount. Strips should be planted until the minimum refuge seed is completely used. The remainder of the field can then be planted with Bt seed in all boxes. Common refuge options Field Edge Compact Block Headland Splitting Planter Perimeter Adjacent Field Across Field Additional refuge options for Herculex I, POWERCORE and SmartStax (select states only for SmartStax) Half-mile Bt corn Refuge corn (does not contain Bt genes for control of corn borers or corn rootworms) Illustrations are not a representation of refuge size requirements. Please see Refuge Size and Distance section for minimum refuge requirements by product.

CROP AND GRAIN MARKETING STEWARDSHIP Dow AgroSciences is a member of Excellence Through Stewardship (ETS). Dow AgroSciences products are commercialized in accordance with ETS product launch stewardship guidance, and Dow AgroSciences Product Launch Stewardship Policy. Before selecting hybrids for your crop plan, Dow AgroSciences recommends you know and understand whether the hybrid you have chosen is a conventional hybrid, one approved for export or one not yet approved for export. It is important that you consult your trait provider s technical agreements prior to planting to understand crop requirements and approved corn markets. Any grain or material produced from Bt seed can only be exported to, or used in, processed in or sold in countries where all necessary regulatory approvals have been granted. It is a violation of national and international law to move material containing biotechnology traits across boundaries into nations where import is not permitted. Talk to your grain handler or purchaser in advance to facilitate appropriate crop and grain or material handling and marketing. For further information about your crop or grain marketing options, contact Dow AgroSciences at 877-4- (877-487-2487). Information regarding the regulatory and market status of agricultural biotechnology products can be found at: biotradestatus.com. TECHNOLOGY USE AGREEMENT You must have a valid, executed Technology Use Agreement on file with Dow AgroSciences to legally obtain, plant, and grow hybrids that contain Bt technology from Dow AgroSciences. Technology Use Agreements can be found at traitstewardship.com or can be signed electronically at agcelerate.com. KNOW BEFORE YOU GROW Before selecting hybrids for your crop plan, Dairyland Seed and the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) recommend you know and understand whether the hybrid you ve chosen is a conventional hybrid, approved for export to the purchasing country or one not yet approved for export. It is important that you read the technology use agreement from the technology provider prior to planting, so you understand crop requirements and to ensure that all exported grain goes only to approved corn markets. REFUGE CALCULATOR National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) in collaboration with the industry has developed a Web-based calculator to help growers calculate the minimum refuge requirements for each of the Bt products on their farm. This calculator can be accessed at refuge.irmcalculator.com. Refer to this diagram for the examples below. A Total Corn Acres* B Refuge Acres C Bt Acres % Percent of Required Refuge 5% 20% or 50% Based on total corn acres *Includes all corn acres that are in-field or adjacent to each other and will be allocated to the Bt product and its associated refuge. The WRONG Way to Calculate Example Example Your Field Example Your Field C X % = B X The CORRECT Way to Calculate X X % = B B Example shown is for a 20 percent refuge product. Do NOT multiply the amount of Bt acres or seed by the percent of refuge required. START with the TOTAL number of corn acres you want to plant in an area. A Next, subtract your refuge acres from your total corn acres. A Example shown is for a 20 percent refuge product. Multiply by the PERCENT of refuge required for the Bt trait. B For additional information on how to calculate your required refuge acres, refer to the National Corn Growers Association IRM refuge calculator at www.irmcalculator.com. A = = = C This is NOT the correct minimum refuge size. This is your minimum REFUGE ACRES. This is your maximum BT ACRES. C www.dairylandseed.com // 800.236.0163 25
