We provide governments, business and international agencies with expert analysis, advice, data and economically sustainable solutions For over 60 years we have solved pressing global environmental challenges for our clients, positioning them for secure futures. Experience you can count on Ricardo Energy & Environment has a long and enviable track record of providing groundbreaking expertise to international governments, businesses and agencies. This can be traced back to the development of innovative air quality measurement and management techniques that helped overcome the infamous killer smogs of the 1950s. It has also evolved from the UK Government s team of expert advisers that pioneered renewable energy technology, and energy and resource efficiency techniques following the oil price shocks of the early 1970s. Expertise around the world Sustainable solutions require an appreciation of the complex interrelationships between economic, societal and environmental drivers. Through deep and broad expertise, we develop integrated solutions to complex environmental and sustainability issues. Today, we are taking our market-leading knowledge to all parts of the world. Cities across the globe require environmental support and Ricardo Energy & Environment has valuable expertise to offer. Robust economic growth, while lifting millions of people out of poverty, is driving rapid global urbanisation; increases in the consumption of resources such as water, energy and rare earths; and increased emissions. 2 Global environmental challenges: sustainable solutions

Air Quality Helping governments and businesses improve the quality of the air we breathe We established, and are the custodians of, the UK national air quality information archive Air pollution damages health, greatly increasing healthcare costs; reduces crop yields, affecting agricultural sector productivity; and damages the built environment. We provide smart solutions that help organisations minimise their environmental impacts and comply with regulations. We enable local, national and international governments to develop effective environmental pollution policies and to evaluate progress against them. Environmental quality capabilities cover the land air interface and how pollutants disperse to impact on human health and cause broader environmental damage from acidification to the emissions of greenhouse gases. Over 100 technical experts deliver our services to national and regional governments as well as local authorities and business. For over 20 years, we have delivered market-leading measurement, modelling and emissions inventory compilation and reporting for air quality pollutants and greenhouse gases. We are the major supplier supporting the operation of the UK national air pollution monitoring services, and generate and disseminate national, daily forecasts of air pollution for towns and cities across the UK and beyond. Our experts are able to model and forecast the formation, transport and fate of air pollution from international scales down to street level. We use this to support international policy makers in shaping policies to improve air quality. 4 Global environmental challenges: sustainable solutions
