Finance On our finance programme you ll play a key role in driving Royal Mail s performance, supporting teams throughout the business to deliver value wherever possible. Four separate placements in nationwide locations (including London and Chesterfield) over three-and-a-half years will show you the breadth of our business from investment appraisal and treasury to performance management, and operational and regional finance. Commercial Rotating across four placements over the two years, you ll get to grips with the fundamentals of the Royal Mail commercial business strategy and develop the technical, behavioural and leadership skills you need to secure a future in our dynamic commercial business. Graduate placements include areas such as project management, product development, digital marketing, marketing communications and strategy. Each is tailored to help our Graduates develop their skill sets whilst being at the forefront of business activity. Strategy On this two-year programme you ll work directly with experienced former strategy consultants and in-house experts. Learning from the best on critical strategic projects, you ll help inform our strategy towards current and new markets (including mergers and acquisitions), build insights on existing markets to explore opportunities and support our internal strategies for business areas such as HR and operations. Influencing, networking and communication skills, structured analysis, problem-solving, stakeholder management and project management are core skills that you ll develop. In addition to on-the-job training, you ll carry out week long placements across the business to strengthen your knowledge and be actively encouraged to pursue relevant formal qualifications. Engineering On our Engineering programme you can choose from opportunities including: engineering software and control systems development, system architecture design and testing electronic and mechanical engineering. You ll focus on real-time automated systems operating across the entire Royal Mail network building knowledge that s second to none. Electronic and mechanical engineers will have an opportunity to work across an extensive element of Royal Mail s engineering team to specify, design and test bespoke solutions to improve existing systems and help influence the future. This could be from complex material handling solutions to individual pieces of ancillary equipment. Central operations Central operations is a creative hub that improves our processes and takes the best ideas from concept through to design and deployment. Under the guidance of a highly-skilled team of programme and project managers, central operations drives change in the business, meaning we re able to roll out projects that make the way we collect, process, transport and deliver mail even better. Over the course of this two-year programme, you ll rotate between placements designed to broaden your knowledge of our central operations business areas and develop your leadership skills. Wherever you re placed and whatever you re doing, you ll be at the forefront of our future business strategy. Network optimisation You ll learn everything there is to know about network design, scheduling and optimisation throughout the Royal Mail Group. Much of what you ll be doing involves looking for trends in data and analysing critical information, so that we can be sure we re operating as efficiently and effectively as possible. To give you a well-rounded perspective, you ll complete up to three placements in network design, network scheduling and network planning. On our Network optimisation programme, you ll help us mastermind a national network that employs thousands of frontline staff and delivers to over 29 million addresses in the UK. Over the course of two years, we ll introduce you to a fast-changing business, give you structured and specialist training focusing on data analysis, and help you to take the first steps towards an exciting career. Fleet management Royal Mail Fleet is expanding into the commercial sectors, where we are repairing and servicing a wide range of vehicles from external customers. We are at the start of our commercial journey and with that comes the opportunity to bring on board new talent to support our growth and cultural development. During this two-year programme, you ll gain a unique insight into how we maintain and procure vehicles and strategically plan our operations. You ll complete up to three placements in our commercial, technical and fleet services teams, learning the ropes and enjoying responsibility from day one. Whether it s lorries or vans, you ll see that our vehicles are well maintained at our 95 vehicle workshops nationwide. You ll also learn how to handle the many different areas that rely on fleet management within the organisation, as well as commercial suppliers. Logistics On this two-year programme, you ll join one of our vehicle operating centres or regional distribution centres as a traffic office manager, work area manager or manager of a team that keeps the mail moving. Leading between 15 and 50 people in one of our operational units around the country, you ll inspire progress, improve performance and motivate your team to ensure that your unit is running as efficiently and smoothly as possible. Because we operate nationally, our operations graduates are expected to relocate throughout the programme. That means your first placement could be at Birmingham Vehicle Operating Centre and your second might be in London. International operations International operations connects the Royal Mail Group to the rest of the world, processing over 250 million parcels and 225 million letters for distribution every year. As a graduate on our International operations programme, you ll have an opportunity to develop essential leadership skills on a range of projects and across a range of roles making an international impact from day one. Whether you re working in our new logistics centre, our air mail unit or our highly automated flagship mail centre, you ll learn all aspects of our international operations on this graduate programme, from pricing and marketing to sorting import and export mail, learning how to lead a team and managing key projects.
