Crops This leaflet is part of the approved label. For advice on medical emergencies, fires or major spills telephone the National Chemical Emergency Centre on 01865 407333 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Operator Protection Engineering control of operator exposure must be used where reasonably practicable in addition to the following personal protective equipment: WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTIVE GLOVES when handling the concentrate or handling contaminated surfaces. However, engineering controls may replace personal protective equipment if a COSHH assessment shows that they provide an equal or higher standard of protection. WASH ALL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING thoroughly after use, especially the inside of gloves. WASH SPLASHES from skin immediately. WASH HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN before meals and after work. IF YOU FEEL UNWELL, seek medical advice (show the label where possible). IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY AS AN AGRICULTURAL HERBICIDE individual dose (litres product/hectare) 1 number of applications Latest time of application Wheat 0.25 One per crop Before flag leaf sheath extending stage (GS 41) Durum wheat, rye and triticale 0.25 One per crop Before second node detectable stage (GS 32) Other specific restrictions: To avoid the build up of resistance, do not apply this product or any other product containing an ACCase inhibitor herbicide more than twice per crop. In addition, do not use this product in mixture or sequence with any other product containing clodinafop-propargyl. READ THE LABEL BEFORE USE. USING THIS PRODUCT IN A MANNER THAT IS INCONSISTENT WITH THE LABEL MAY BE AN OFFENCE. FOLLOW THE CODE OF PRACTICE FOR USING PLANT PROTECTION PRODUCTS. Environmental protection Do not contaminate water with the product or its container. Do not clean application equipment near surface water. Avoid contaimination via drains from farmyards or roads. Storage and disposal KEEP IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER, tightly closed, in a safe place. RINSE CONTAINER THOROUGHLY by using an integrated pressure rinsing device or manually rinsing three times. Add washings to sprayer at time of filling and dispose of safely.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be carefully read in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product. RESTRICTIONS Do not use on barley or oats. Do not spray crops under stress or to crops suffering from waterlogging, pest attack, disease or frost. Do not spray crops undersown with grass mixtures. Rain within one hour after application may reduce grass-weed control. Avoid the use of hormone-containing herbicides in mixture or sequence with TOPIK. When TOPIK is applied first, leave 7 days before applying hormone herbicides. If mecoprop-p or 2,4-DB containing products are applied first, leave 14 days before TOPIK is applied. If MCPA or 2,4-D containing products are applied first, leave 21 days before TOPIK is applied. Crops should not be re-entered until spray residues are dry. RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT Always follow WRAG guidelines for preventing and managing herbicide resistant grass-weeds. Do not use TOPIK or any other ACCase inhibitor as the sole means of grass-weed control in successive crops. Use grass-weed herbicides with different modes of action throughout the cropping rotation. To reduce the risk of developing resistance, applications should be made to young, actively growing weeds. Use crop rotation and other cultural control measures to prevent and manage herbicide resistant grass-weeds. Use tank/product mixes or sequences of herbicides with different modes of action within individual crops, or successive crops. 2 Only apply TOPIK once per crop and do not use in mixture or sequence with any product containing clodinafop-propargyl. Monitor weed control effectiveness and investigate any odd patches of poor grass-weed control. If unexplained, contact your agronomist who may consider a resistance test appropriate. This product contains clodinafop-propargyl which is an ACCase inhibitor, also classified by the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee as Group A. Use only as part of a resistance management strategy that includes cultural methods of control and does not use ACCase inhibitors as the sole chemical method of grass-weed control. Applying a second product containing an ACCase inhibitor to a crop will increase the risk of resistance development; only use a second ACCase inhibitor to control different weeds at a different timing. Strains of some annual grasses (e.g. blackgrass, wild oats and Italian ryegrass) have developed resistance to herbicides which may lead to poor control. A strategy for preventing and managing such resistance should be adopted. Guidelines have been produced by the Weed Resistance Action Group and copies are available from the HGCA, CPA, your distributor, crop adviser or product manufacturer. WEEDS CONTROLLLED TOPIK is a foliar-acting grass-weed killer for the control of wild oats and rough meadowgrass which can be used post-emergence on all varieties of wheat, durum wheat, autumn-sown spring wheat, rye and triticale. TOPIK can be mixed with many broad-leaved weed and residual grassweed herbicides to widen the spectrum of weeds controlled. TOPIK may also be used for the control of blackgrass as part of a blackgrass management strategy.

CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION Weed control Activity is faster under good growing conditions and may appear relatively slow under cold or dry weather conditions. TOPIK has no residual activity. Optimum weed control will only be achieved when all grass-weeds have emerged. TOPIK does not control broad-leaved weeds and if these are present a specific broad-leaved weed herbicide will be required. TOPIK can be used on all varieties of winter and spring wheat, autumn-sown spring wheat, durum wheat, rye and triticale. Timing Spray in the autumn, winter or spring from one true leaf to before flag leaf sheath extending stage of the crop (wheat) or before second node detectable stage of the crop (rye and triticale). Spraying should be done when the majority of weeds have germinated but before weed competition reduces yield. Dry or cloddy seedbeds favour late germination of grass-weeds and spraying should be delayed. A tank-mix with a residual herbicide will control weeds germinating after autumn treatment (see tank-mix recommendations). RATE OF USE Apply TOPIK at 0.25 litres per hectare alone OR 0.125 litres per hectare when used in tank-mix with a suitable adjuvant (see Compatibility section below). FOLLOWING CROPS The activity of TOPIK is not affected by soil type, organic matter or straw residues. In the event of crop failure, any broad-leaved crop may be sown, or after an interval of 3 weeks, any cereal may be sown. Following normal harvest of a treated crop, any broad-leaved or cereal crop may be sown. MIXING AND SPRAYING Spray volume Spray TOPIK in 100-200 litres of water per hectare. Where there are dense weed populations or advanced growth stages the water volume should be 200 litres per hectare. Mixing procedure Make sure the sprayer is set to give an even application at the correct volume. Fill the spray tank with half the required volume of water and begin agitation. Add the required amount of TOPIK to the spray tank and allow to disperse before adding any other product. Add the rest of the water and continue to agitate the mixture thoroughly. Always agitate during spraying. Spray quality Apply TOPIK using a conventional fan nozzle producing a spray quality at the finer end of the medium range as defined by the British Crop Protection Council. Do not use pre-orifice and air induction nozzles as these may give reduced control, which in high weed populations can prove unacceptable. A spray pressure of 2-3 bar is recommended. COMPATIBILITY Use of additives The maximum dose rate of TOPIK is 0.125 litres per hectare when used in mixture with a suitable additive. TOPIK must always be applied with an authorised adjuvant from the methylated seed oil, mineral oil or non ionic surfactant classes. Use with approved methylated seed oils is preferred. Always use adjuvants at their recommended rates. Please refer to Adama literature for lists of approved adjuvants. 3

TOPIK may be tank-mixed with a variety of plant protection products providing that the application timing is correct for both TOPIK and the partner(s) in the mixture. The products should be added separately to the bulk of water in the spray tank. Continuous agitation should be maintained and the products used immediately after mixing.
