Overview This NOS defines the national standard of occupational competence covering overseeing the implementation of security measures. The NOS encourages you take account of working to agreed specifications whilst maintaining compliance with current legal and regulatory requirements during implementation of security measures. This NOS sets the standard for you to: 1 against agreed specifications 2 Research and maintain compliance with current legal and regulatory requirements during implementation of security measures 3 Co-ordinate implementation of security measures against agreed project plans 4 Assess the effectiveness of implementing security measures You must be competent to confirm with appropriate persons clearly the responsibilities which individuals have for meeting design requirements and specifications. You must be able to confirm arrangements for inspecting and controlling the quality of work and recording the outcomes. This means that you must know and understand how and from where to obtain specifications relevant to contract and how and why it is important to confirm the responsibilities for meeting specifications with the appropriate persons. When you complete inspections you must be able to identify work which fails to meet the agreed specifications and agree corrective action. During the implementation of security measures you must obtain, know and understand current relevant legal and regulatory requirements. You must be able to confirm with appropriate persons their legal and statutory responsibilities before work starts. The knowledge that you have to be competent in this area includes understanding how to identify situations, which do not meet legal or regulatory requirements, and what action to take. You must know and understand why it is important to inform clients about significant variations in project implementation, which means that you may need to provide advice to assist decision making. You will be expected to identify potential improvements and highlight benefits of the improvements to your clients. You must be able to identify and determine the implications of any deviations or variations from planned progress, which have occurred.
