INSTALLATION DETAILS TWO-WAY EXPOSED GRID SYSTEM NOTE: Work shall comply with the installation requirements of AS/NZS 2785:2000 by appropriately qualified trade contractors. All ceilings must be designed in accordance with the requirements of AS/NZS 2785-2000. As part of this design process, seismic compliance to AS/NZS 1170.5 is required. Installation should not commence until the building is weathertight Refer AS/NZS 2785-2000 4.2. STEP ONE The room must be checked on site to determine if it is out of square. Using the 3/4/5 method (Figure 1.) will assist in squaring up the room before installation. Layout ceiling grid module to datum shown on architects drawings, or give equal cut tiles at perimeter walls (refer Figure 2.) Work out an even margin along the sides and at both ends. EXAMPLE: (refer Figure 2.) MAIN TEE 4m divided by tile length (1.2m) = 3.3 tile modules. 4m less 3.6m (ie. 3 full tile lengths) = 400mm. Take 400mm and add one tile length (1.2m) = 1.6m. Divide 1.6m by 2 = 800mm margin along each side. CROSS TEE 5m divided by tile length (mm) = 8.3 tile modules. 5m less 4.8m (ie. 3 full tile lengths) = 200mm. Take 200mm and add one full tile width (mm) = 800mm. Divide 800mm by 2 = 400mm margin along each side. STEP TWO Mark each wall to the correct height of the ceiling. Cut the Perimeter wall angle trim to length, and fix to wall with suitable fasteners Eg: Gib grabber wafer head needle tip - at mm maximum centres. (Refer Figure 3.) The Wall Angle should be mitred at corner sections to provide an attractive appearance STEP THREE Fix the Main Tee suspension wire hanger at 1200mm centres maximum along supporting members (ie Purlins,Trusses, Concrete), with a Main Tee span of 1200mm. INSTALLATION DETAILS TWO-WAY EXPOSED GRID SYSTEM CONTINUED STEP FOUR Cut the Main Tee to length so that the first pre-punched cross tee slot as determined in Step One. (Figure 4.) STEP FIVE Install the Main Tee. The self locking tag ends are then pushed together to lock into position, leaving a hairline connection as detailed. STEP SIX With a gentle push, install Cross Tee at mm centres (to form a 1200 x mm grid) between Main Tee through pre-punched slots to form the required grid module. To give the required grid module, ensure positive locking of both Cross Tee connections into each other. (Refer Figure 5.) STEP SEVEN Level and align grid. The suspension points can be adjusted to either a string line or laser. PRODUCT DATA SPECIFICATIONS For technical details refer to ECOPLUS Systems BUILDING PRODUCT QUALITY PLAN available on request. MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS ECOPLUS Two-Way Exposed Grid Main and Cross Tee base sections are double-web cold roll formed from hot dipped, zinc-coated galvanised steel strip. The exposed capping face is cold rolled formed onto the base section also from hot dipped, zinc-coated galvanised steel strip with a factoryapplied polyester paint finish. Steel Yield Strength fy=270mpa minimum. ECOPLUS acoustic panel (2.4kg/m 2 ) to be used for ceiling. Suspension wire, 2.5mm diameter galvanised wire with minimum coating of 125g/m 2 MAIN TEE MASS 0.30kg per lineal meter CROSS TEE MASS 0.24kg per lineal meter ADDITIONAL LOADS The suspension system is designed to carry the weight of the ceiling only.
