3 Troubleshooting Guide CONDITION CHECK POINT METHOD OF INSPECTION TRANSACTION Motor fails to rotate (no noise is heard at all) Power supply cord Check power supply cord continuity. If there is no continuity, replace the cord reel patition unit. Fuse of P.C.B. AU (250V, 12A) Check fuse continuity. If there is no continuity, replace P.C.B. AU. Motor continuity Check the conduction between the If there is no continuity, replace the terminals of the motor. motor. ON/OFF Switch Check continuity across switch If there is no continuity, replace connections P.C.B. AU. Triac (Inside of P.C.B.) Check if the triac is in open circuit. If it is in open circuit, replace P.C.B. AU. Motor runs but there is no suction P.C.B. AU Hose or Suction inlet, Extension wand and nozzle Dust bog / Secondary filter Check the internal parts for anything unusual. (burn-out, meltdown, etc.) Check if there is any blockage in the indicated parts. Check if dust bag is full or Secondary filter is choked up. If anything is found unusual, replace the P.C.B. AU with new one. If there is any blockage, remove it. If dust bag is foll, replace with a new one. If Secondary filter is choked up, remove and clean it out or replace. Noise or vibration Motor fan Check dust accumulated in motor fan (it could happen if the vacuum If there is dust accumulated in the motor fan, replace the motor and cleaner has been used without central check filter condition. (never try to filter). dismantle the motor fan) Motor does not change power (runs always at full speed) Power control P.C.B. AU Adjust the power control and check whether or not the resistance varies. (Gray Blue) Examine the triac in the P.C.B. AU and check whether or not T1 and T2 are short-circuited. Motor runs irregularly P.C.B. AU Check possible bad contact of P.C.B. AU. If the resistance does not vary, then replace the P.C.B. AU. If they are short-circuited, then replace the P.C.B. AU. Replace P.C.B. AU. 5
4 Disassembly and Assembly Instructions Important notice: Before replacing any components, make sure to turn OFF the vacuum cleaner. Remove the power plug from the outlet. * Caution: 1. Do not attempt to modify the machine, parts, etc. when marking repairs. 2. Even if a wire is partially disconnected, do not attempt to repair and/or connect it when a wired unit is available as service parts. Replace the overall section with a new wired unit. 3. Pull out and/or insert the fastening terminal without twisting it. 4.1. Dust box cover assembly removal 1. Open the dust box cover assembly at an angle of approx. 45. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver between the upper body and the dust box cover assembly and move it in the direction of the arrow mark to remove the dust box cover assembly from its right side. 4.2. Separate the upper and lower body units 1. Remove the five screws fixing the upper body U and lower body U. 2. Remove the screw fixing the upper body U from the rear side. 6
3. Lift the upper body U to separate it from the lower body U. 2. Here is the drawing of the lead wire before the P.C.B. AU is removed. 4.3. Printed circuit board AU (P.C.B. AU) removal 1. Remove the Swivel cap unit and Supporter plate U and Switch cover U. 3. Disengage the fast-on terminal of the wires (red) and (blue) which lead to the cord reel partition wall connected to the printed circuit board AU. * Caution: Pull out the fastening terminal without twisting it. Pull out by holding down the section indicated by an arrow. 7
4. Remove the P.C.B. AU from the P.C.B. holder. 4.4. Motor removal 1. Remove the dust box lid assembly. (Refer to paragraph 4.1 on P.6) 2. Remove the upper body from the lower body. (Refer to paragraph 4.2 on P.6) 3. Remove the printed circuit board AU. (P.C.B AU) (Refer to paragraph 4.3 on P.7) 4. Remove the two screws fixing the P.C.B. holder and pull it out from the lower body U. 5. Remove the two screws fixing the P.C.B. holder and pull it out from the lower body U. * For removing the printed circuit board AU, first remove the fast-on terminal for the connecting section for the motor. 8
5. Lift the motor section from the lower body U. 6. Remove the components fitted to the motor. a. Remove the motor support rubber (rear). b. Remove the motor support rubber (front). c. Remove the motor case plate. d. Remove the thermal protector. e. Remove the motor support front. f. Remove the lead wires connected to the motor. g. Remove the noise suppressor. * Caution: Pull out the fastening terminal of the lead wire connected to the motor unit and thermal protector without twisting it. * Note: When the thermal protector has been replaced, make sure to paste the tape (gasket V) back on the terminals. 9
4.5. Cord reel partition unit replacement 1. Increase the gap width between the cord reel and the lower body with a screwdriver. While removing the cord reel shaft from the side of the lower body, lift the cord reel partition unit. 4.6. Rail base U replacement 1. Remove the screw fixing the rail base U onto the cord reel partition U. 2. Remove the rail base U from the cord reel partition U. 4.7. Spring-loaded cord reel prewinding 1. The cord reel partition U has a spring that pre-winds the cord reel. If the cord is not wound, then press the brake arm, and the cord pre-winding will be loosened. If you wish to apply pre-winding again, then wind the cord three turns in the direction of the arrow mark. * If you wish to release the pre-winding, then make sure to hold the cord plug. * For easy removal, pull out the cord slightly, and then lift the cord reel. 10
