General Guidelines It is the user s responsibility to read and follow all instructions. Instructions for Part # WP-48-1000 Keep these instructions with the product at all times and review before each use. It is the responsibility of this product s owner to furnish the instructions to any person that borrows or purchases the product. Inspect the product before use to ensure it is assembled properly and all parts are in safe working order and free of defects. Never modify this product in any way. All circumstances cannot be addressed in these instructions. Please use common sense and practice general safety measures when using this product. Parts and/or instructions are subject to change without notice. Safety Warning: Each person aboard the work platform must wear appropriate fall prevention gear and keep it tethered to the platform at the lanyard attachment point at all times. The work platform cannot have a width greater than the overall width of the fork truck being used (measured across the load bearing tires) plus 250mm on either side. Ensure that the forks are fully inserted through both sets of the fork pockets. Secure the work platform to the forklift mast before use. Do not use the work platform if any damage to the standing surface, the handrails, or any part of the gate is observed. Do not use the work platform unless the fork tine lock, securing chain, and gate latch are all in good condition and functioning properly. The fork truck s parking brake must be applied before elevating the work platform. Never transport personnel in basket at any time. Personnel are to be raised and lowered only. A fork truck carrying a work platform must only be used on a firm and level finished surface in good repair, and the truck s forks must be kept level with the ground at all times. Be alert for personnel moving underneath the platform. Warning: Do not use any part of the gate, siderails, or safety chains as a step, or as a support for leaning out of the work platform. Warning: Never use the platform to lift or support any type of structural load. It is to be used only to lift and transport personnel along with their associated light tools and equipment. Do not use the optional caster kit to support and/or move the platform while personnel or equipment are aboard. Always elevate the platform off the floor when transporting equipment or personnel. Fork truck manufacturers are to be consulted when accessories are used that affect the truck s capacity and safe operation. Page 1

Assembly Step 1. Attach the lower mesh wire railing to the platform deck. Align the ends of the railing with the locking brackets onto the two threaded posts on the platform deck. Tighten the locking brackets securely with a wrench. Fig. 1 Step 2. Attach the upper mesh wire railing to the lower mesh wire railing. Fit the locking bracket ends of the upper railing onto the threaded posts of the lower railing. Tighten the locking brackets securely with a wrench. Step 3. Attach the right side railing to the mesh wire railings and the platform deck, fitting its threaded ends into the locking brackets. Tighten the locking brackets securely with a wrench. Fig. 2 Fig. 3 Page 3

Step 4. Attach the door to the right side railing. Hold the door in place between the brackets on the right side railing. Slide the hinge pin through the top bracket, then through the spring, and through the bottom bracket. The spring s arms should be on the inside of the railing, so that the door will close when assembled. Fig. 4a Insert the 03 pin through the bottom hole in the hinge pin. Bend the arms with a pliers to secure the pin in place. Tip: To help with assembly, you may want to hold the door back with the safety strap attached to the right side railing. Fig. 4b Fig. 4c Inside of Platform Outside of Platform Step 5. Attach the lower front side railing to the platform deck. Fit the threaded ends of the railing into the locking bracket ends of the platform. Tighten the locking brackets securely with a wrench. Fig. 5 Page 4

Step 6. Attach the upper front side railing to the lower front side railing. Fit the threaded ends into the locking bracket ends. Tighten the locking brackets securely with a wrench. The door may be secured close using the attached chain. Step 7. Attach the two left side railings between the mesh side railings and the front side railings. Fit the threaded ends into the locking bracket ends. Tighten the locking brackets securely with a wrench. Fig. 6a Fig. 7 Fig. 6b Step 8. To attach the optional wheels, lift the work platform with a fork truck (see next section) to access the bottom of the platform deck. Insert a wheel peg into a wheel post on the bottom of the platform deck. Then, screw on a locking or non-locking wheel, hand-tightening until secure. Repeat for the rest of the wheels. Installation of Work Platform to a Fork Truck Insert the fork truck s forks all the way into the backside fork tubes (opposite the gate side). Entering from the back side of the work platform, the forks must extend through the front fork pockets. Capture the heel of the fork with the tine lock underneath the corner of the platform. Fig. 9a Fig. 9b Tine Lock: Pull the pin, then rotate the tine lock 90 until the pin locks. Locked Unlocked Operation NOTE: Before using the work platform, review all of the items in the General Guidelines and Safety sections NOTE: Consult standard ANSI/ASME B56.1-2000, Safety Standard For Low Lift and High Lift Fork Trucks, for further information regarding proper procedures to be used when operating a fork truck with a work platform attached. NOTE: You must read and understand all instructions carefully before using the work platform. Consult the manufacturer for any questions not resolved to your satisfaction in this owner s manual. Before entering the work platform, verify that it is positively secured to the fork truck mast by both the securing chain and the tine lock. Inspect all of the platform structure for signs of damage, and verify that the gate latch and chain will secure properly. For standard models enter the work platform from one side and pull the gate closed. The latch will automatically rotate and drop into the locked position. Push outward on the gate to verify it has locked. Secure the gate with its safety chain. WARNING: Do not lean against the handrails or safety chains to support the weight of your body. WARNING: Damage to the platform or injury to personnel could result from exceeding a platform s listed capacity. WARNING: Attach the work platform safety strap to your safety harness. CAUTION: Use the work platform only on a smooth, level, finished surface. Avoid sudden stops or quick turns. CAUTION: Set the parking brake before lifting personnel overhead. CAUTION: Hold onto the handrail on two sides of the work platform whenever it is in motion. Page 6
