Microrite, Inc. brings you this unique advanced course in the identification of fungi; part of Microrite s Practical Series Workshops. Learn Fungal Identification the correct way by understanding classification, knowing macroscopic and microscopic features that differentiate each species. Using hands on macroscopic and microscopic morphology identify important cleanroom isolates using the simple identification keys put together by Microrite. Fungi isolated from a clean facility may come from various sources. Use the knowledge gained in this workshop to evaluate the condition of your clean facility and risk to your product. This hands-on workshop will allow you to examine the commonly encountered fungi in cleanrooms. You will have the opportunity to learn the macroscopic morphology and the microscopic characteristic features using the easy identification scheme learned in this workshop. For this hands-on course Microrite accepts only 10 registrations on a first come first serve basis! Which industries does this conference apply to? Industries that will benefit from this training are Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Medical Device, and other cleanroom related vendors. Who will benefit? Quality Control Microbiology Personnel. Who will be teaching? Ziva Abraham a known microbial contamination control expert and a seasoned mycologist has educated industry on fungal identification and investigating mold contaminations for over two decades. Her understanding of the origin and behavior of mold makes her a well respected investigator for mold contaminations. She has over 25 years of academic, research, clinical and industrial experience in Microbiology, and Quality Assurance. She has trained personnel from various industries in microbiology techniques and methods. Ziva received her Master s Degree in Microbiology and has conducted graduate work on developing Microbial Insecticides. She has established clinical laboratory systems in Israel, and is involved in expanding Your Horizons, a program through the Math and Science Network to educate young girls about careers in science. She uses her hands on experience in varied fields to teach why assessing risk of microbial contamination should be in the forefront of any company that has products for human/veterinary use or to diagnose disease in humans and/or animals. Her experience in clinical laboratories has provided her with the framework to understand the effects of microbial contamination in products from a patient safety perspective. Microrite, Inc. is a consulting company based in San Jose, CA that helps Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Biotechnology, and In Vitro Diagnostic companies in the areas of microbiological quality control for sterile and non-sterile manufacturing, quality assurance, and validation.
This in depth 3 day course will cover many topics including: Basic classification methods for fungi to evaluate the risk to product Learn about the common sources of fungi found in cleanrooms Step by step identification by macroscopic and microscopic examination Learn about the common errors in fungal identification Correct use of reference materials Discussion on automation for fungal identification Learn about the pitfalls in both microscopic examination and automated methods Discussion on fungi commonly found in cleanrooms, their source and the risk they pose to your product Microscopy techniques for fungal identification Importance of knowing anamorphs and teleomorphs Practice fungal identification using approximately 27 common and uncommon fungal isolates encountered in environmental monitoring, using various text and live cultures. Make your own slides and learn how to identify fungi using different conventional techniques
