Page 8 Code of Ethics The Western States Collegiate Sales Competition (WSCSC) takes great pride in our unique opportunity to represent the field of professional selling. It is our duty to educate our sales students to always reflect professionalism, to be open and welcoming of feedback for improvement, and to strive to do what is best for our customers. All WSCSC participants are expected to carefully follow the rules and guidelines included within the WSCSC handbook and to report any activity that is unlawful, unsafe, or can be damaging to the integrity of the competition or the field of professional selling. As an honorary member and participant of the WSCSC, I,, agree to: 1. Maintain the highest standards of integrity in all business relationships 2. Adhere to all rules and guidelines included within the WSCSC handbook 4. Promote and protect good sales practices 5. Always act in line with my organization's, the WSCSC codes, and within the law

Page 9 Competition Rules and Regulations Student Registration Faculty coaches will be sent a link for individual student registration in February. Students will be asked for their full name, date of birth, gender (for lodging purposes), university, email and contact phone number. Students will also sign a media release form. Students are asked to agree to the following: I understand that I am subject to the rules of the WSCSC and that rule violations will disqualify me from prizes or awards. I understand that the competition will be recorded and that individual role plays will be made available to corporate partners. Video and images may also be used for publicity or training purposes. Students will not receive monetary remuneration for the use of their image or likeness. The WSCSC reserves the right to disseminate competitor resumes and publish competition standings. Any cash awards received may be subject to federal income tax. Contestants should consult a tax professional. Competition Rules: Information gathered during the role play is confidential and should not be shared with other competitors. Buyers in each role play will have the same profiles and temperaments. Only judges and WSCSC staff are allowed in the judging rooms during all rounds of the competition. All students are expected to arrive to the Career Center (SSC 270) at least 15 minutes prior to his/her scheduled time slot. Competitors must arrive early for their competition slot or risk disqualification. In the event of certain circumstances, some role plays may not begin at the scheduled role-play time. Thank you for your patience! Within reason, testimonials and other visual aids may be created and used during the role plays. Only those visual aids prepared beforehand may be used during each role play. The competitors may not present a blank visual aid (e.g., testimonial) and represent it as an answer to unexpected objections or unplanned strategy. The prospect/buyers will not play along. No additional time is allowed for setting up visual aids. Faculty/Coaches are asked to remain in SSC 410 for role-play viewing throughout each round (Qualifying/Finals). Coaches are not allowed to reveal any information from viewed role-plays to students on university teams. Just like the real world, we expect students to learn about their customer s profile in the hot-seat. Let s remember that these rules are in place for the integrity of the sales profession and for the development of all participating students. Any cheating, illegal activity, disorderly conduct, and/or public intoxication will not be tolerated and are grounds for disqualification. Each round may include unexpected curve-balls to test the students abilities to adapt, guide, and persuade the buyer(s). These will be revealed confidentially to judges and to students during his/her scheduled role-play time. This information is not to be shared with other students or teammembers whether within ones own team or with other competing universities. Any and all suspicious behavior must be reported to the SSP Program Operations Manager immediately. Failure to maintain confidentiality will subject student competitors/universities to disqualification. The Executive Director of the WSCSC will be the final arbiter in any and all such occurrences. We do not expect any inappropriate behavior and have not had any major infractions in the past. The WSCSC takes the integrity of this competition, the sales profession, and the safety of students and faculty very seriously.

Page 10 5% Judging Criteria Judges will assess student competitors selling abilities based on the categories and criteria as listed below.
