1 ST THURSDAY SERIES January-December 2016 (12 events total) Downtown Santa Barbara comes alive the first Thursday of each month, with the award-winning art walk event series, 1 st Thursday. Passports in hand, art-lovers of all types meander on a self-guided tour of galleries, shops, museums, even restaurants, all staying open a bit later with cultural experiences or talent to enhance the evening. Now in its ninth year, 1 st Thursday is as strong as ever, celebrating the vitality of our downtown with an ever-changing event full of diversity, culture and great times. With between 20-40 participating businesses and an audience estimated at 800-1000 each month, 1st Thursday offers sponsors monthly exposure as well as business-to-business networking. The 1 st Thursday Passport, used as a guide by attendees, is an attractive roadmap loaded with a photo and information about each venue s exhibition or activities. This 1 st Thursday Passport serves as a primary fulfillment piece for our sponsors and venue participants, with more than 13,500 printed Passports broadly distributed throughout the year. Heating up (and extending) the evening is the newly created 1 st Thursday: After Hours, in partnership with the Historic Theatre District. Blues Cruise Chili Cook-Off Saturday, May 14, 2016 Every year, the State Street Nationals Car Show brings hundreds of antique and classic cars to State Street for one of California s biggest street car shows, attracting an estimated 30,000 people annually. This popular event is expanding to include a Saturday event showcasing Downtown Santa Barbara s diverse restaurants, vying for cash prizes and best chili, while enjoying an evening cruise of antique and classic cars and some of the best Blues music around. The Blues Cruise Chili Cook-Off offers patrons tickets for sale to attend and sample chili from participating restaurants, including voting for People s Choice. This proposed five-day festival will be centered around a dual theme of health and wellness. This new festival will inspire, inform and re-energize attendees in Santa Barbara s beautiful setting, while showcasing innovation, best practices and creative expression about life lived in the center. Held in multiple venues across multiple days, this soulful celebration will showcase Santa Barbara as the ultimate retreat for the soul. This new Health & Wellness Festival (Name/Brand TBD) offers a wide range of programming and marketing opportunities throughout the community for sponsors and program partners who value health and wellness as part of their core business and corporate values, and want to associate their space with this new major Health & Wellness Festival.
